Machine Model Numbers

Whether you're trying to determine the manufacture date of your machine, need the number to obtain a Product Manual, or you're simply curious, follow these easy instructions to locate your machine's model number.

1990 - present

For sewing machines manufactured since about 1990, look for the model number on the handwheel side of the machine near the on/off switch or the electric cord receptacle.

1970 - 1989

You will find the model number on the front panel of machines manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s.

1960 - 1970

Sewing machines manufactured in the 1960s usually have the model number on the machine's front panel above or below the stitch length controller.

Before 1960

On machines manufactured before 1960 the model number is located on a small plate on the front of the machine.

Earliest Machines

The oldest sewing machines may not have a model number on the machine. If this is the case we can usually determine the model from the machine's serial number. Please call 1-800-4-SINGER (1-800-474-6437) or email for assistance in determining the model number.
