Continuous Hoop Embroidery Using the Draw Program of the PSW 2.00a

Instructions

Fabric Preparation:
Place fabric, with a tear-away stabilizer, in Continuous Hoop Attachment.

At the Converter Box:
Insert a programmable SmartMedia Card in the slot of the Converter Box.

1. Open the PSW 2.00a program.
2. File: New
3. Open Image Dialog Box: New.
4. New Dialog Box: OK.
5. From the Vertical Tool Bar, click on the Draw icon.
6. From the Vertical Tool Bar, click on the Star icon. Move the cursor into the grid, and then right mouse click. In the New Objects Properties Dialog Box: Number of Radials, type in 5, OK.
7. Move cursor into center of the grid, but near the top. Left mouse click, hold and drag the cursor to create a star about the size of a quarter. Release the mouse button.
8. Place cursor down below first star, but slightly off to the right. Click, hold and drag to create another star about the size of a dime. Release the mouse button.
9. Place cursor down below second star, but slightly off to the left. Click, hold and drag to create another star about the size of a nickel. Release the mouse button.
10. Create three more stars (6 total), varying in size; stagger below the others.
11. To rotate or move them around, then click on the Select icon from the Vertical Tool Bar. The last entered star is selected.
12. To rotate: Click on any star. The image will be in a box with black dots and squares. Click and hold the upper right corner dot (black rotation arrows will appear). Move to rotate the star.
13. To move: Click and hold the cursor on the star. Move to another location (a four-sided arrow will appear).
14. From the Horizontal Tool Bar, click on Close (icon looks like a little "house").
15. From the Horizontal tool bar, click on Utilities: Image Span. Move the cursor to the center of the stars, and then left click.
16. From the Vertical Tool Bar, click on the Magic Wand, click on Complex Fill.
17. From the Horizontal Tool Bar, click on the down-arrow next to Step Satin. From the Block Properties, click on Stitch Type, and then click on Pattern Step. Select a003.ref, OK.
18. Left click on the first star. Right click, and then left click on Build Stitches.
19. Left click on the fourth star. Right click, and then click on Build Stitches.
20. From the Horizontal Tool Bar, click on Next Color. Left click on the second star. Right click, and then left click on Build Stitches.
21. Left click on the fifth star. Right click, and then left click on Build Stitches.
22. From the Horizontal Tool Bar, click on Next Color. Left click on the third star. Right click, and then left click on Build Stitches.
23. Left click on the sixth star. Right click, and then left click on Build Stitches.
24. From the Main Menu, click on Modify, click on Center Design.
25. From the Vertical Tool Bar, click on the Hoop icon. Select the Continuous Hoop (50 x 120), OK.
26. If the design is too large for the hoop, decrease it as follows: From the Main Menu, click on Modify: Dimensions. Click on the Percent Box, click on the Lock, run the cursor over the numbers in the box next to the "X" and type in a number smaller than 100. This number changes the design size by percentages (example: 85). Click OK. This should decrease the size of the design so it fits in the hoop. If it doesn't, decrease the size further.
27. From the Vertical Tool Bar, click on Show Image (image of stars disappears).
28. File: Write using Continuous Embroidery. Click on Smart Media Card; Save in New Page. Wait for the data to be transferred to the card. When the transfer is complete, click OK in the Design Successfully Written box. Remove the SmartMedia Card from the Converter.

At the Quantum® XL-6000:

1. Insert the SmartMedia Card into the slot on the sewing machine.
2. Attach the Continuous Hoop.
3. Touch the Continuous Hoop icon.
4. Touch the Card icon, and then select the stars.
5. Touch the Layout icon. Touch the Layout OK icon.
6. Thread the Quantum® XL-6000.
7. Embroider the design. When the design is finished, press the OK icon.
8. Release the lever on the hoop. Slide the fabric strip backwards until the needle is directly at the point of the positioning "V" marker. Lower the needle into the point on the "V" marker. Clamp down the lever on the hoop and embroider the next design.
9. Repeat the embroidery process until enough "border" is created for the desired project, then assemble project according to manufacturer's instructions.
