Comparable to the high end machines

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

I wanted a really good high end embroidery machine that did not cost as much as a small car. This machine is comparable to the much more expensive brands. The difference is that Singer cut the cost by letting all the design work be done on the laptop or PC instead of in the machine. It is easy enough to transfer designs using the USB stick. The variety of embroidery hoop sizes is nice and the endless embroidery hoop is a great addition. The software on the provided USB stick is easy to install and use. It is easy to switch between the sewing bed and the embroidery unit. The bobbin winder worked perfectly and I am happy to have the option of using the knee attachment to run the machine. There are lots of videos on the Singer web site and YouTube. This has a large footprint and it is heavy, but I highly recommend this machine if you are serious about sewing and machine embroidery but need to live within a budget.

I have been sewing most of my life but embroidery is a new adventure for me. I was a little intimidated when I set the machine up but the online tutorials and onscreen tutorials made it very easy. I have read where other brands of embroidery machines have different "issues" but I have not found this to be the case with this machine. I love it!!!!

If you follow all of the instructions from singer and always start your embroidery at a slow speed you will have no problems. This machine is so easy to operate and I look forward to the many creative ways I will use it. Applique turned our lovely. Use the bobbin fill not standard thread when embroidering. The only reason I give it 4 not 5 stars is because it has to be plugged in to a computer to embroidery and I find the bobbin winder doesn't work quite as smoothly as my other machine. I also am not a fan of the thread spool laying on its side, I find I have to watch close for hang ups but use of the netting on spool greatly reduced any problems.

Embroidery machine has a large learning curve not good for a novice... Like to see more how to / tips & tricks videos on website.... spool spindle gets tangled and causes thread breaks...bought a separate spindle stand to eleviate problem.

I have this machine and the SEQS6000 and I absolutely love these machines. I have them both going at the same time and having a ball. I would recommend these machines. Can't be without them.

Overall Rating:

Cons: Poor Quality, Complicated, Expensive

I have owned a Singer embroidery machine for 12 years, and have never had as many problems as I have with this one The troubleshooting guide does not cover all of the problems and specifics to this machine. I have been an advid seamstress for 30+ years. The embroidery feature is horrendous to work with (i.e. it should not involve so much to get the tension set on a new machine, in fact it should not be a factor at all). I have had my machine for 6 weeks and still have not been able to get the tension set so that I can even use this machine. I will be returning it and looking elsewhere for something more user friendly!

This is the machine of the future

Overall Rating:

Pros: High Quality

I love this machine. There is so much I am able to do on it. Threading is a breeze. Easy to choose decorative stitches, adjust tensions, widths and lengths of stitches. Just started embroidery features and had no problem catching on. I was even able to convert a clip art file to embroider. Well worth the money I paid for it. Thank you Singer for an excellent machine. I have retired my Singer 603 machine. Perhaps my grandchildren with use it.

Fantastic machine; lousy support

Cons: Expensive

This sewing and embroidery machine can do everything. I'm a fairly experienced sewer and I enjoy being challenged; not only with projects, but also with my machine. The xl-580 does just that and the whistles and bells will make it so I'm learning for a long time.

The above said, the customer support line reps are terrible. (Not exaggerating.) after being on hold for 45 min +, you get a rude person who talks like you're wasting their time. They're condescending and rude and when they do offer answers to your problem, they do a great job at making you feel like a complete idiot who probably shouldn't own a sewing machine.

I was hesitant to write this review because If I was the only one who experienced this, well, it would be me that was the cause. However, every single new singer owner who has attempted to receive help from these reps that I've spoken with has had the same experience. The one adjective that three people have used is that the reps are "snarky".

6 -month user...

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Good Software

Cons: Complicated, Not For Beginners, Understand Maintenance, Understand Stitch Settings

This is my first embroidery sewing machine, and I had no idea what I was getting into when buying it. It is not a beginner machine. Being a computer and technology enthusiast, I figured it would be rather easy to watch YouTube, find examples and make cool embroidery’s. It has not been that easy.
First, the machine is very picky. Wrong tension, stitch length, bad embroidery conversion, setup problems, and the occasional whim of god cause the thread to start getting tangled under the fabric. The machine does not detect tangles very well and will cause it to quickly jam. I have broken needle’s 4-5 times and damaged the “Bobbin case” badly. One time like a saw, the thread etched into the side of the plastic bobbin case causing damage. Even though it is computerized and automated, you Must watch over the machine the entire time its running and stop it in a hurry when you notice something is wrong. Pay attention to the manual and how different items work. Make sure you use the proper oil and oil where needed (such as the bobbin case). Other than these items, the machine has wonderful features. The software is rather easy to work with if you know computers. The large work size is a plus. Feature wise; it’s a great machine. Singer just needs a method to auto-detect setting issues and not to rely on the user to catch jams and it would be perfect.

Great Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Price

I've had my machine for about a month now. I got it because I wanted a bigger embroidery field and for the endless hoop. I'm working on an Halloween embroidery project right now. I've worked on about six different designs and had my thread break a couple of times. I moved my thread to a stand and changed my needle. So far everything is working great. I already had a embroidery machine and loved it but wanted something bigger. After reading reviews from other singer embroidery machines both good and bad, I decided to give it a try. Joined a Facebook group and watched a lot of videos. Love my machine, very happy that I purchased it. The price is great. I bought a referbished computer to go with it for less than $300. The software is easy to learn, I haven't done anything with the autopunch yet. Like that I can stop when a thread color is done, and the next day I can go to the next color. Would recommend.

So excited when I got this machine. Have it a month and still can not use it. Anyone else haveing opening the software? Been in touch with singer and compucon (say it could be my computer) Took it to my sister's and couldn't open it either. I have 2 other machines CE-150 and xl-400 and have had no problems. Love these 2 machines. Let me know if you have any suggestions...
