Simple operation used this combo right out of box from HSN.Sewing Machine Pro's:Strong motor, fast stitching, easy stitch selection choices & adjustments, great adj. for presser foot pressure, great bobbin winding, extra value feet, simple operation. Con's: Poor Lighting, really be great to have LED light. Serger Pro's: strong motor, fast stitching, only used factory settings,DVD instruction, extra value feet. Con's: Poor Lighting, wish the front opened like the Stylist II Serger (which I own). All in all this combo has many great features, only gave 4 stars because of Lighting.
Cons:Need Better Lighting For The Sewing Machine, Automatic Or Manual Needle Threader For The Serger, Additional Feet Not Available For The Serger, Both Machines Are Extremely Noisy

I already owned the comercial grade heavy duty sewing machine but I bought the combo because I had been looking for a serger and couldn't believe the price point for both. I appreciate the power in the handling of very heavy fabrics and the variety of feet provided, just what I need for my every day sewing tasks that I do not want to use my SEQS 6700 for. The serger is very easy to setup for various sewing projects but is difficult for me to thread because of deteriorating eyesight, especially the needles. I would suggest adding an automatic or manual needle threader to make things easier as other manufacturers have done. Also need better lighting for the heavy duty sewing machine.
All in all, I am enjoying both machines and look forward to finding more feet for the serger.
I bought the combo on JAN back in April. I had never serger so I spent a good 2 months learning it in my spare time. I have to say I love the machine and the only complaint is the lighting. However, I have never had soooo much trouble with a singer sewing machine and I have been sewing for 30+ years. The machine skips, breaks thred, and the stitches are uneven, when they are not bunching up in the feed dogs or knotted up in my fabric.! This is even after I bought brand New thread for top and bobbin. So I bought NEW Needles. My regret is not opening the machine sooner, because I know my warranty is long gone. I guess I got a reject. Now I'm stuck with it. Very unsatisfactory Machine. Sincerely Jill A BARBERREE.
