This machine had done everything I wanted and more. I am still learning to use all of its features. However, the Hand Wheel just fell off. Nothing seems broken. Can find no information on why or how it is held together on the machine.

The Wonderful Singer One Plus

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: The Manual. Put All The English Language First, Then Put Other Languages In The Back. My Manual Has One Page English, The Next Page Another Language.

This is a realy nice machine. Sews well. All singers do. The needle threader, speed control and the sewing by itself, without having to use the presser foot are absolutely wonderful. It purrs like a kitten. You can do almost anything with it,

Perfect for straight stitch only

Overall Rating:

Cons: Poor Quality, Expensive

4 out of 5 people found this helpful.

My husband bought me this machine so I could sew more effective and efficiently, but so far this machine will only sew a straight stitch! All other stitches seem to be lost. The thread bunches up on the bottom of the fabric turning into a huge ball of knots, the feed dogs won't run when any other stitch is selected, I've tried everything to make it work and all its done is ruin fabric and waste thread! Also the storage tray will not stay closed at all, and my automatic thread lever popped off within the first week of using it! I've only had this machine a month, I'm considering taking it back! Not worth what my husband paid for it:(

I have a new plus1 and it has been nothing but problems!!! I had to pay $70.00 to ship it out for repairs. When I got the machine back it was not fixed. I have no interest in spending more money on this new machine!! I tried to get help from singer and they have NOT responded to my emails!! I am VERY unhappy!!!!!

My Newest Singer

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Versatile

1 out of 1 people found this helpful.

As always, I am very pleased with my newest singer product. I have used Singer products ever since I started sewing 55 years ago, so I am a die hard fan. This time I wanted a new basic machine that would sew well, give me a lot of options for embellishment and would be sturdy. This machine did not disappoint! From the first stitch, I was in love. It feels like a built in machine, never moves about when sewing. Controlling the fabric is so easy with the wide bed. I love the threading feature, love the way the bobbin thread is controlled during the threading process, even love the slit in the presser foot that allows for easy pull up of the bobbin thread. No more stopping to get something to slide under the presser foot to grab the bobbin. I like the ease of adjusting stitch speed. There are so many great features on this machine, it would take a full page to comment on all of them. The only thing I can think of that I would like to have on this is an attachment that would allow for sewing larger circles than the flower foot attachment. I love this machine and would recommend it for anyone looking for a good machine that I believe will last for years and give a lot of sewing enjoyment.

GREAT!!

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Versatile

I grew up using my mom's Singer sewing machines. And until now, I've found sewing rather boring. However, my daughter and I went and purchased a brand new One Plus and took the class and WOW!!!! Hello sewing! I'm in love and can't wait to start quilting and sewing a few more projects. Now I find patching and hemming sort of boring. This machine is definitely worth the money. My daughter has never really sewn and we fight over who gets to use it next. It's easy to use and the different stitches are a blast. I need to get some more thread because we are practicing all of the stitches. I HIGHLY recommend this machine to anyone who wants to take up sewing or to those who have been sewing for years. Glad I bought it. Thank you, Singer, for a wonderful machine!

Happy Customer

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

I received this machine as a gift from my mother. I have owned many singers in the past but this one has definitely been my best. I call it my "Cadillac", and I retired my others. I do so enjoy the ease of the threading and the bobbin loading. The directions have been very easy to follow. Would have liked to see a automatic thread cutter and not impressed with the needle threader, little hook doesn't catch very often. It's much easier to thread by hand than trying numerous times. I have tried a few of the attachment feet and like them, not impressed with the cutter foot but maybe I will try one more before I toss it. Also would like to have a larger extension table for quilting but can't seem to find one in the accessories section. Love all the various stitches that this machine has available. Next best thing to an embroidery machine.

Love this machine!

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Light Could Be Brighter

3 out of 4 people found this helpful.

I bought this one the day after Christmas and love it. I was replacing an older Kenmore unit. The light could be a bit brighter though and it's a bit noisier than I thought it would be but overall I love it and give it 5 stars. I've been sewing quite a bit on it and am very happy.

A instructional DVD would have been nice.

Not a Great Start

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: A Con

1 out of 1 people found this helpful.

My old Kenmore finally bit the big one, so I went yesterday and bought a Singer One Plus at Jo-Ann Fabrics. The machine is beautiful, easy to set up and very quiet. Why a problem? Non of the lights work. This machine is supposed to have 3 LED lights that come on when the machine is turned on. Well, zip, zilch, nada. I tried emailing Singer. Then I tried calling. Twice. Was 13th then 17th in line. Sorry, but I don't have 2 hours to be on hold. So, I tried their Facebook page. Still no response. So, I finally took the machine back to Jo-Ann's, and they are super. They didn't have one in stock, so they are getting one from another store. The manager told me to take the defective one home and use the daylights out of it and he will call me when the new one comes in. So, Singer, even though I love the machine, you really need to step up your game as far as costumer service goes.

One Plus

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value

Cons: Needs An Instruction Video

3 out of 4 people found this helpful.

I really like the features this machine offers. But I don't like the fact that you can't find any help in learning how to use them. Also the manual is awful. I lowered the feed dog to see how easy it was to put down and get back up. I followed directions from manual and finally had to go to on internet to find solution.

LOVE THIS MACHINE

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Still Can Not Figure Out How To Use The Self Threader But Never Could On The Other Machines Either. Must Be Me.

Sewing has become a part time job for me and I wanted to upgrade from my last singer. So glad I waited for this machine! It is great! Takes me back to my original machine over 40 years ago. It runs like the Singers use to. I love the new features too. The bobbin is so easy to set up, the dials are quick to understand and use and although I haven't tried the stop and go button yet I think it is cool. It feeds so much better than my old machine and I like the larger work area. I like the way the area comes off and on and the way the drawer opens. Looking forward to trying to do buttonholes again, something I gave up on with the old buttonholers but now this one is metal again!

singer 1+ One Plus

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Bobbin Has To Be Wound On Top Of The Machine Rather Inside The Bobbin Compartment.

2 out of 3 people found this helpful.

quality is fantastic. the only thing I miss is that this machine does not wind the bobbin while its in the bobbin compartment like my older future two did. the bobbin has to be wound on top of the machine. but the stitches are great and the variety of stitches is nice to have. I really enjoy the machine and am glad I made the decision to purchase it.

Awesome machine for the price

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

This was my second sewing machine purchase and I just love it. Like some other people I got it from HSN and loved the extra value package with all of the extra feet which I am still learning about.
The machine itself is wonderful and I have had no problems with it thus far. I thought it would be a hard machine to learn how to use since this was only my second machine but it was so easy to use and the instruction manuals really are easy to understand.
It is a powerful machine and I would recommend it to the beginner or the intermediate sewer as well.
I believe it is well worth the money.

Love this machine - having used a Singer Genie for 40 years, this was definitely a giant step forward. Love the ease of using all the features, the quick bobbin set up, needle threader....It's great for quilting. I made a queen size quilt on my Genie - which I loved by the way; have now passed it on to another sewer....The One Plus is all that I wanted in a new machine.

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: The Manual Doesn't Have Very Good Pictures. A Video To Go With This Machine Would Be A Huge Plus. It Took Me Awhile To Figure Out How To Thread It, And The Whole Bobbin Thing.

very pleased with performance so far

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Singer Cust Serv Rep Was Good

Cons: Expensive, No Dvd And Poor Manual

10 out of 11 people found this helpful.

1) overpriced for the quality and what it does
2) manual is terrible - want to do a monigram but don't always have many hours to play
3) like the ease of changing stitches - my old Singer 401A took major hardware changes for that.
4) wish I could find a reasonably priced case to store it in - can't find one to fit.
5) button attachement was broke when rec'd - singer cust serv was great and quick with a replacement.

overall i'm quite happy - just wish there was better instructions or dvd for learning.

Not performing well

Overall Rating:

Pros: Easy To Use

Cons: Poor Quality, Not A Durable Machine

9 out of 11 people found this helpful.

i also purchased through HSN and In the first week I have used this machine, it has broken. It would not sew through multiple layers of a fabric Shower curtain I was making. The needle broke, the bobbin came loose and now the machine works very slowly and the bobbin case shakes. Obviously this will have to be sent to a Warranty center as there is not a center in my state. I have been on hold for 30+ minutes as I write this with customer service. yuck! Not a happy camper.

LOVE IT........BUT

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, High Quality

Cons: Complicated, Poorly Written Manual

5 out of 7 people found this helpful.

I GOT THIS MACHINE FROM HSN AND IT IS AWSOME.ALL THE ADDED FEET ETC ARE GREAT. IT TOOK ME 3 HRS TO BE ABLE TO MONOGRAM, NEVER DID FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THE QUILT STICH AND OTHERS. tHE MANUAL LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED, I AM GETTING BETTER GUIDANCE ON U TUBE. OTHERWISE THE MASHINE IS A LOT QUIETER TO OPERATE AND I HAVE MADE A FEW PROJECTS WITHOUT PROBLEMS.I LOVE THE STORAGE IN THE FREE ARM PULLOUT, THE ADJUSTABLE SPEED DIAL AND BEING ABLE TO SEW WITHOUT THE FOOT PEDAL, SO COOL. ALSO THE DROPIN BOBBIN AND STARTING TO SEW WITHOUT WORRING ABOUT THE THREAD GETTING WADED UP IN THE BOBBIN. JUST FIX THE MANUAL SO A NORMAL AMERICAN CAN UNDERSTAND IT AND GO INTO MORE DETAIL.

Very pleased

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Lighting Could Be Better

4 out of 5 people found this helpful.

Love this new machine. Really easy to use. Threading was a dream. I must be honest and was leary making this purchase. We have a local sewing center and Singer is not in their inventory. It seems, I must send this several hundreds of miles away if I am in need of repair. I hope I don't find the need. I haven't used all the stitch functions, but will be creating my sample book as soon as I have completed my first quilting project. I have had no difficulty in using so far. It is really very quiet. The lighting could be a bit brighter. Will be more happy when I can begin taking classes, but until I find a case to fit or a rolling machine bag to fit, I will have to just learn at home.
Overall GREAT machine for the price.

appalling build quality and "one of"

Overall Rating:

9 out of 13 people found this helpful.

I should start by saying that I own three older machines plus a 4-thread serger; only one of those machines is a singer. I was initially excited by the price and number of features for this machine when viewed on HSN. After delivery, it was another story entirely. The build quality on the machine should be embarassing for Singer. The pull out unit that separates from the sewing arm did not align with the machine when 'seated'. Also, when trying to sew layers of material, it failed to feed them and you could hear the plastic gears grinding within the machine. plastic!? at this price? come on. Upon further inspection it becomes apparent that this machine is just like the $99 Singer 'One' but that they decided to make a 'one of' upgrade for by uping the number of stitches, throwing in the kitchen sink in the way of attachments and charge over $400 for. The stitch quality was inconsistent even within the same long stitch across a length of fabric. Also, the HSN session promised a DVD with the machine and there was none and is a complaint of others as well. This would be a great machine if it was priced where it should be at $200, but alas, the marketing people thought they had a formula for making a bundle by charging twice that amount.

Good Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value

Cons: Not Enough Support For Problems With Machine

22 out of 26 people found this helpful.

Can only give a 4 star. The machine is good but I am having trouble finding any helpful information to support me in the new system of threading. I called Singer number on my paper work and was very upset with the call. I have always had good experiences with Singer helpline but this time I had a lady that was impatient, rude and NOT HELPFUL at all. I finally just hung up and have been figuring this out on my own. A DVD would have been very helpful with this machine. I taught my self to thread the Singer Professional 5 thread surger but this is just a problem. Still happy I bought the machine but really could use more help.

Love this machine! My old one rattled the whole table, this one doesn't even move it. Very quiet, sews fantastic. I had stopped sewing because my old machine was so miserable to use-this one makes sewing fun again. The automatic needle threader works perfect. I've played around with a couple of the feet, and they seem like they will be a breeze to use. Very very happy with this purchase.

I am so disappointed. Used the machine once. Tonight I went to use it again and the piece that the foot pedal plugs into broke and fell inside the machine. I am one week past HSN's 30 day return policy, now what? I have to deal with shipping it to a warranty center. This machine had a lot to offer but it doesn't feel well made. Maybe because I'm trying to compare it to my 30 year old machine that is built like a tank.

Fun Machine!

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, Pretty Machine!

Cons: Dim Lights

6 out of 8 people found this helpful.

I've been quilting for 25+ years, and wanted a new machine to take to classes. This isn't very heavy, the sloped bed makes it easy to quilt either free motion or stitch in the ditch. It's great for piecing. I think this is a much better machine than the "One" machine, but could still have a few improvements that the other reviews already mentioned. Would like to know if the LED lights could be switched out to brighter ones like regular light bulbs. Oh, and by the way, it's been difficult to find a rolling trolley large enough for this machine!

I sew garments and have been in the market for a machine that was "almost" an embroidery machine, but not quite. I wanted lots of stitches and this machine has it! I compared it to a 2012 Bernina that had fewer stitches and fewer attachments for several hundred dollar more - on sale! I love the flower attachemnt and all the feet that came with the HSN package. Just looking at this machine makes me feel special! It hums like a dream, is very easy to thread. It is the first machine I've owned where you cannot see the thread take-up bar going up and down. The instruction book is easy. Thank you for extra instructions for all the extra feet that came with my package. I noticed that the fastest speed is not quite as fast as my other Janome basic machine, but that is fine. It isn't slow by any means, just different. One drawback is that this curvy machine won't fit in my current roller bag so it is unlikely it will go to class, until I find a roller bag that fits it. Love the large storage area inside the machine (take it off for the free arm feature). The broad base feels natural and good in my hands. Supports the fabric very well.

Just received my One Plus and have used it to try out all of the stitches and a few of the added feet. So far the stitches come out nice and the feet are easy to use. Machine is very quiet. The auto needle threader is easy to use. Would have liked brighter lighting and an automatic thread cutter and a stitch chart. All in all a great machine for the price. Purchased as the today's special.

Great Machine So Far

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

22 out of 24 people found this helpful.

Let me start off by saying this is my first Singer, and I bought it to take to classes and such, my regular machine is a Viking Designer SE and it's not portable. The machine was heavier than I expected but not too heavy to take around. The lighting is nice, but it seems the have a hue to it. I tried a few of the stitches and it really did great, not noisy or anything. Bobbin threading is like the Viking and super easy. Everything was great, right out of the box. I was skeptical, but I really like this machine. I am still looking at everything, but I wanted to get this information out there because it is a great machine.
