Best Machine Ever

My machine was a gift from my Dad whom passed away and wanted me to have my dream machine. Well received it and opened the box and followed to a (t) the instructions to setup, very easy. She sews like a dream, tried the sewing before the embroidery. Day 2 decided to use Embroidery, so followed the book to a (t) on setup instructions, very easy and stitched out (12) baby's first bibs and they embroidered out perfectly, no problems whatsoever, my baby bibs are waterproof and used florianni no show mesh stabilizer on back and used florianni wet-n-gone stabilizer on top and these turned out gorgeous, actually when I posted them to facebook I was asked to make a set for sale. This machine is absolutely amazing considering I was looking to purchase a $7,000.00 machine with all of the same features and this machine was a quarter of that price. I own the Singer Confidence Quilter, great machine, Singer Featherweight 1947 model and they all have been wonderful machines. Remember after a project to clean your machine, I find that this definitely extends the life. Very, very happy.

Great Big Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, High Quality

Cons: Complicated

So far I have only made a couple projects on it, but they turned out very good. The software is a learning experience for sure. It would be helpful if you could open and work on the program without being hooked up to the machine, especially for beginners like me. The time to play and learn the software in comfort would be nice. Also a manual to the software would be very helpful.

Happy Stitches

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Support Information Available On Line

I am very happy with this machine. I had read a lot of other reviews where some had trouble but purchased anyway because of the quality of the other singer machine I own (stylist) and I have not been disappointed. The machine itself gets 5 stars, I held back though because the software is not as intuitive as I would expect from something based on a dos foundation. I am familiar with multiple graphics programs but am finding this one to be a bit more of a learning curve. ex CTRL Z is undo in most art programs, limited in this one. I would also like to be able to edit (like highlight and delete) parts of purchased designs- I have found ways to edit and delete (like not sending the block) but would like an easier method. Singer does offer the Embroidery newsletter with tips and tricks, I am working through them one at a time.
Great results though so far with the projects I have completed.

I have been using Singer machine as long as I can remember..... I brought the 6700 with no hesitation...... But I should have....Every so often I need to reinstall the hyperfont software....... Before. You say It I use a laptop just for this machine.... I call support and no one can say y....if the software was loaded on a stick it would not be so frustrating.... Hint...hint

I have been using my Futura for two years and have made numerous quilts, handbags and Halloween costumes. I have not had any of the problems that others have mentioned. I have used most of the attachments, which HSN included as a bonus, and have had no trouble at all. I need to read the instructions a few times but, this is not the machines fault! The only foot I needed to buy was the rolled hem foot. I am now in the process of making the Elsa dress from Frozen and this machine is making it a breeze to put together...so much so that I am considering making another one, plus Anna's dress too!

I did my research and in spite of all the negative comments that were posted, thought I would take this chance. I love the styling of this quartet as it is the same styling as my 1+. It is a very elegant looking machine. But yes, looks aren't everything.I took it out of the box, and before I did anything I made sure all parts were included. Everything checked out. All in good condition. Then I read the manual (always a good decision with a new product). Then I went and registered it with Singer, and looked for anything new not listed in the manual. I loaded the software and downloaded the applicable updates as I have Windows 8. I stitched out the test pattern and added a little font. I am extremely new to embroidery and this was my first attempt ever. I had NO ISSUES whatsoever. I then disassembled the embroidery arm and did a test swatch to test all the stitches on this machine. It has worked like a charm. I love that the bobbin winder is a separate function and refilling a bobbin was so easy.

You cannot purchase a home embroidery machine with these features for this price anywhere. Earlier models were less intuitive and didn't stitch out as nicely. I love this machine! I think it does just as good a job as the 10,000 dollar competitors. I use the embroidery features mostly. however, just as a sewing machine, this Quartet is remarkable. The SwiftSmart threading allows for less tension problems, the separate bobbin winder is a huge deal, the software takes some trial and error, but once you get it, you got it. The upper tension sensor is very touchy. I try starting my embroideries slow and then speeding them up as the machine goes. It works great! I love that I can use so many different design file types. I have so many projects and ideas in the works I need to clone myself so I can keep sewing/embroidering all the time!
This really is a great machine, not very loud, very stable, and easy to take care of. I love showing off my finished pieces; lots of ooooooos and aaaaahs! There is help everywhere if you are nervous about purchasing this machine. The ONLY thing I would like is for the never ending hoop to become available for purchase. I highly recommend this machine to anyone.

CONFUSED

Pros: Great Features

THIS MACHINE SHOULD HAVE CAME WITH A BETTER MANUAL FOR EMBROIDERING. I OWN THE SINGER XL-1000 AND I LOVED THE MACHINE, MANUAL HAS CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS, DID NOT NEED TO CALL SUPPORT WITH THE MACHINE ALL THE INFORMATION WAS IN THE BOOK. EVEN THE TROUBLE SHOOTING WAS CLEAR, THIS BOOK IS UNCLEAR FOR DETAILED EMBROIDERY, WHICH IS WHY I BROUGHT THE MACHINE. IT IS NOT AS EASY TO USE AS THEY SHOW ON TV.

Very Unhappy

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: Poor Quality

My husband bought me the 6700 as an early Christmas gift and I was very excited to get it and get started! I had read all the reviews - good and bad. I set the machine up and everything was great. I appliqued t-shirts for my kid's Disney trip and made a beautiful baby quilt for my new granddaughter. Then, it went downhill fast!! In the process of making a second quilt, the embroidery unit began malfunctioning. When I tried to embroider a quilt square, the thread kept winding itself around the bobbin case, sucking the fabric into the bobbin case along with it. After several frustrating calls to singer customer service and a call to a singer service center in Atlanta, I am no closer to finding out what is wrong with my machine than I was when the problem began. I have tried everything recommended to me and nothing has worked. I have only had the machine 4 months and it broke down on my third project. Singer wants me to sent the machine to Atlanta (I live in Mass) at my expense to have it looked at, when the place in Atlanta hasn't even heard of this problem before. I bought the machine from HSN - their attitude is too bad, your 30 day warranty is up. So, now, I am stuck with a very expensive machine that does not work - oh, it does sew just fine, but I have sewing machines, I wanted a new embroidery machine. And, wouldn't you know, I sold my other embroidery machine (that I had for 20 years and still worked) right before this new and improved machine bit the dust. I'm sorry to say but I feel like Singer products are just not what they used to be and, while the customer service people are friendly, my problem has yet to be resolved.

Not for a beginner

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, High Quality

Cons: Complicated, Expensive

I have been sewing since I was a child and found this to be the most complicated machine I've ever used. I think that it would have been a much better experience if there had been some sort of instruction that came along with the embroidery portion of the machine. After a month of trying (and ruining) things on many different fabrics etc I finally got the hang of it. In the last year it's paid for itself several times over with the projects I've sold to others. Now that I understand it, I love it but that learning curve was a huge disappointment.

I've been sewing since I was in eighth grade, which was quite a while ago. I've had other machines (different brands) but I usually come back to Singer. This Futura is great. I haven't been able to really get into the embroidery part yet, but I know I won't be disappointed. I'd recommend this machine to any die-hard sewer.

I have not had the same problems as other reviewers, I had a what I thought was a small problem when my thread got twisted around the hand wheel, I have removed all the loose threads but my machine still won't work and trying to get a response from customer service has been impossible.

Great Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Great Stitch Quality.add A Pro

Cons: Booklet Doesn't Demo The Importance Of Tension And Flossing Of The Thread During Threading Your Machine.add A Con

8 out of 9 people found this helpful.

I purchased this machine as a today's special and could not be happier. It sews beautifully, and the embroidery is wonderful. There is a learning curve...so be patient ... play with it. If the threading is jamming up, be sure to leave the presser foot up while threading and really floss the thread behind the first disc at the top of the machine. I even pull back on the thread after I have treaded it completely, while holding the thread taut at the needle. This works great. The machine is a great value, with more features than I will probably ever use. Really high quality machine and it is easy to use once you learn it....BABY STEPS get the job done! Love it!

Love this machine. It sews well and does a beautiful job of embroidering. I thought that learning to embroidery would be a large learning curve. But, it comes with software that is easy. It is helpful to read all the instructions in the manual before you begin because it explains almost every thing about this machine.

I got this machine when it debuted on HSN It runs very smooth and produces beautiful designs. Love the large hoop and all the extra's that came with the machine. Auto thread cutter is awesome and the extra large working area is fantastic. I would recommend this machine to everyone!

A great machine

I bought this when it debuted on HSN. The price was great for all it came with (namely the software & extras). I love the machine for sewing, but it gets a little annoying having to switch it back and forth for sewing and embroidery. I had a rough start with the embroidery (first 3 times had all sorts of problems, but I believe they were all me - I was new to embroidery). I wish it came with a better manual and that I could have taken a class to learn how to use it. But, that probably would have made the machine cost twice as much (buying locally). Some of the added accessories/feet I can't get to work right. I think they're typical China junk. So that stinks. But I have done countless wonderful embroidery and appliqués and completed a lot of projects. Don't let the bad reviews deter you. If you take the time to LEARN what the machine requires of you, it will work great. But it can't do it alone. And for the reviews that said something was wrong when they got it, that can happy to ANY electronic or sewing machine. Part of how things are made now & a lack of quality control.

Waste of money

Cons: Poor Quality, Customer Service Stinks

used twice for a total of about 12 designs, thread keeps snapping, or gathers under the item being embroidered (you end up with a big wad of thread wrapped around the bobbin housing), auto threader does not work, the cutter does not work (makes a grinding sound, but does not cut). this is a worthless machine, unless you enjoy spending close to a thousand dollars for 12 designs!

Well, I can't say to much yet. I've only fiddled around a bit with my new SEQS-6700. I was diagnosed with breast cancer just after buying the machine and have been pretty well tied- up with treatments to do much sewing. I'm done treatment now and hope to be happily back at my Singer soon. It seems like a great machine and I love all the extras that came with.i got the new set of hoops automatically which was very nice. I will be glad to give you a review in the near future. Keep on sewing girls (and guys) !! Carla

So Disappointed!

Overall Rating:

As a lifelong singer sewer, this is the first time I've gotten a machine that hasn't worked properly from the first day. Customer service is no help because they keep rehashing that I'm threading it wrong or it would work, and I've owned the machine for less than 6 months. It jams constantly, rattles, and the embroidery is awful. I've destroyed more fabric than it's worth trying to get the thing to work properly. I wish I could ship it back and purchase something else. I've have reverted back to sewing with my old machine of 30 years ago. So I just spent close to $1000 for a machine that is brand new and I wouldn't GIVE it away to a friend.....so disappointed and no help from Singer. Where is the warranty?
