Sew much fun

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Expensive

I've been sewing as a hobby for several years using some older machines including my favorite, a 1936 Singer model 15,and after weeks of researching new machines, I decided to purchase the new model ONE. While I have really enjoyed the old machines, this new one is just incredible. I have made two shirts, a coat, 3 quilted pillows, 3 stuffed animals and mended over a dozen clothing items and I have only had the machine for 10 days now. It is truly the most simple machine to use, the ease of threading, stitch selection and adjustment, and the awsome buttonhole features, the design and size of the sewing surface, I absolutely love using this machine and would recommend it to anyone!

I love my machine!!! It has been the best machine I have ever used. I've done several thing with it including 2 quilts and working on my 3rd.

The only down fall of the machine is the foot pedal. Some times it doesn't want to work and I have to turn it on and off and then it will work.

I was a home economics teach back in the day, and have owed two Viking Sewing machines, but this Singer ONE beats them all! It is so much fun! I can't stop using it!

bad experience

Overall Rating:

Cons: Poor Quality, Expensive

19 out of 26 people found this helpful.

Purchased a singer one that was on sale at joann frabic for my granddaughter. The machine would not operate, when the foot petal was pushed it would start and then stop. The machine could not be turned counter clockwise manually. Returned the machine to Joann Frabic and they replaced it with another Singer One. This one operated fine but when the foot petal was released it continued to run. Returned this one to Joann Frabic and they issued a store credit. Poor quality control on this new product. I would give this one a zero rating.

My family hated it when I got out the old machine due to loud frustration on my part. I love my SingerOne. Easy to sew with this machine. Love the bobbin. Easy to change the stitch patterns.

OK machine if someone could repair it.

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: Bobbin Problems, No Close Warranty Repair Places

8 out of 9 people found this helpful.

I like this sewing machine, but have lots of problems with the bobbins and bobbin tension. I even had to order a new bobbin casing. It is under warranty IF I take it an hour and a half away or pay to ship it there. Would be better if they had closer "certified" repair places.

Beautiful Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, High Quality

Cons: Motor Is Noisy

8 out of 9 people found this helpful.

Just got mine yesterday from HSN special. It is not only beautiful but sews like a charm. I was a bit disappointed with the loud motor but I'm sure I'll get use to it and it doesn't bother me, because it sews so beautifully and has such super great features. I'm starting to day to do a couple of projects that I've wanted to do for a while now.

Love the machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Easy To Use, Very Nice Machine

We didn't sew a single stitch before the jack to receive the plug of the foot control broke off. Had to replace the plastic jack with a metal one. Singer should have manufactured it with a metal jack.

Not a happy owner

Overall Rating:

Cons: Poor Quality, Faulty Equipment

5 out of 5 people found this helpful.

Just got my machine out to use for the first time. The foot pedal does not work. I have been on hold with the Singer Customer Service phone line for 30 minutes and there are still 8 callers ahead of me. I see someone else wrote a review with the same foot pedal problem I have.....Not happy with Singer level of customer service at this point. Will review again when I find out what they are going to do about the problem.

Singer Solid

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Nice Curved Work Surface

Cons: Wish It Had Monogram Initials Built In.

Received as a gift to replace my 25 yr old Kenmore. Presets for stitches work well. Its quiet. I love the automatic threader, since my 50 yr old eyes need help with that. Nice variety of stitches. Have used it for a couple of projects. Had a little difficulty with jamming the bobbin while working on knit with the scallop stitch on the corners, but overall did a great job. Haven't used it a whole lot, but its been fine.

i have not sewn in years abd this machine was so easy to use I couldn't believe it!! It does a great job and I love it. Has just enough on it and I have only one thing that was hard to get used to and it is that the lever for the pressure foot is on the right and I am a lefty and used to the lever being in the back of the pressure foot.

I bought this machine after watching it on HSN, they made it look so easy. It will take time to go the book and sew. The machine sews great and I like the features but like I said it will take time to learn how to use the features.

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: Theader Doesn't Work

I love my new Singer One machine, except the auto threader does not work. I have tried to make every adjustment I can, but it still doesn't work. Luckily, my eyes are good enough to thread my machine without it.

I have only just got it and it seems to be very user friendly. I wanted a little more than just a basic machine and this is a good one. Had a little trouble threading it but it will come with time and the more I use it.

This is the ONE

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use

2 out of 2 people found this helpful.

I'm a beginner sewer and I've only had experience with a couple of older Brother machines. I purchased this machine last nite and I love or already! I was originally doing to go with a Curvy, but this one was on sale at Joann's and cheaper than the curvy so I got it. It was a little confusing at first to get the bobbin filled but that was just my lack of knowledge in reading the directions. Love the automatic threader. I haven't watched the DVD yet. I sewed a quilt top last nite and I love how it just starts sewing so smoothly and instantly. (The Brother would hesitate and whine before it would start to sew). Love the drop in bobber and auto tension. Sewed perfectly the first time. Once I sew more I can come back and update.

Great Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

First off I have the Singer 160 which is the same as Singer One but mine is a different color. This is an easy sewing machine to use. Touch of a button and you are switching stiches just like that. I have been sewing for years and I also have a Singer 9940. I bought the latest machine for my daughter in laws to use and as a back up machine. I have made close to thirty bibs with terry cloth as gifts, a fleece poncho, eight double sided fleece blankets, a half dozen reciving blamkets, kitchen curtains, a quilted bag, and quilted two baby blankets on this machine. When sewing thick material I am using an even feed foot and I lengthen the stich length and widen the decorative stiches. I love using the decorative stitches to accent my projects. If you haven't sewn then try to get a friend to help you or go to a class this will help you to become a more confident sewer.

Singer One is #1

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Dependable, Great Storage Area

2 out of 3 people found this helpful.

I have just started sewing and learning to quilt. The One is a great machine for me as a beginner since there are so many helpful gadgets incorporated into the machine to make it easy to get good results. I can concentrate on making accurate seams rather than why the machine isn't doing what I want it to.
A very nice machine.
Wish I had it years ago.

Excellent Starter Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

1 out of 1 people found this helpful.

I received my Singer machine as a gift and love it! It is easy to use, straight forward and has more features than many other beginner machines. I'm new to sewing, but feel confident when I use the machine and when I have a question, the answer is easily solved by looking in the user’s manual or on the website. The support provided with the purchase of the machine has been excellent. I love how easy the machine is to thread...for a beginner that is a major plus!

Awsome Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Easy To Use, High Quality

This is the first new machine I've had in years and I can not say enough goos things about this machine. The only thing you need to be aware of is the bobin has to be the right one or it will skip stiches and I learned that the hard way. The is an awesome machine.

Novice sewer

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Pretty To Look At...it's Base Is Sloped For An Ergo Feel

Cons: Because Of The Base Sloping...you'll Need A Very Large Sewing Travel Bag...not The Normal Size The Other Machines Will Fit

1 out of 1 people found this helpful.

This machine is wonderful!
It has the large work space...love it.
Threading the bobbin and thread is a breeze.
And it has alarms...letting you know that your thread tension is too tight or caught on the feed dogs...and if the pressed foot hasn't been place in the down position. Worked right out of the box...haven't even touch all the other stitches yet but look forward to it...try this machine...I would buy it again.

I am so happy with my new sewing machine. I have made two garments since receiving it as a surprise Christmas present. I love the built in stiches and the threader. The drop in bobbin makes sewing a lot more fun.
