Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, No Computer Technology

This is the machine that I've been looking for for 10 years to keep in my cabinet. It's heavy duty and is a workhorse. The fancy stitches are nice but I was looking for great straight stitches, an occasional zigzag and the serger is a wonderful bonus.

Great on hemming blue jeans, I love the automatic needle threader, the additional extention table is super, speed is great it only took me 30 min. from start to finish(even finding my own supplies) to hem one of my husband work FR jeans which would have usually taken 4 hrs and 2 or 3 needles. The darning feature is great on my tough boys knees britches. In one day is hemmed 2 new blue jeans and three of my little boy's blue jeans. I cant say enough HOW I LOVE THIS MACHINE. My husband thanks Singer too:) Saves frustation level at breaking needle and the wait time.

Poor Lighting, Weird Gray Green Shade Makes It Look Like A Plastic Swamp Monster

I bought this at HSN last September 2013 and have used it a lot. It's now April 2014, and I've used it to sew thick fabrics like layers of denim and canvas. As long as I use the appropriate needle this thing just sews through it with no problem. I bought it for $249 and it came with tons of feet, a quilting table, heavy duty spool stand, and a box of 25 extra bobbins. The only things I don't like is the hideous shade of green gray and the poor lighting, which I fixed by installing a stick-on LED light under the arm. I don't need a fancy computerized machine since I don't do embroidery or quilting, and if you want a machine for home dec projects, this will be perfect for you.

It's Heavy

This was a gift from my Hubs. I was so excited to have a "real" sewing machine. I'm an amateur sewer but can sew very well. This first problem I have with this machine is the "automatic" bobbin threader. It doesn't work, not with any type of bobbin. It won't put the thread on the bobbin. Next, issue is putting the bobbin in the machine. I think you need to be a rocket scientists to put this thing in properly. Once you get the bobbin set up you have to try to put in a needle. After you have the machine set up and have found the correct setting for tension ect. You're out of thread. Yay! My machine absolutely does not like to sew light weight material. It grabs the material, it leaves a loopy/messy line. I have had this machine for a year and am so frustrated with it. I am always online trying to trouble shoot things because the book is worthless. I will be purchasing another Brother machine very soon.
