Since 1851, the name Singer has been synonymous with sewing. The spirit of practical design and creative innovation that characterized the company at its beginning continues today as we develop products for every level of sewing. We have celebrated many firsts, including the world's first zig-zag machine, the first electronic machines and we now proudly produce the world's most advanced home sewing and embroidery machine. From home décor and clothing construction to embroidery and quilting, SINGER® is dedicated to help people express themselves through sewing.
I purchased this machine after never having owned a sewing machine made after 1940. My only complaint is the excessive vibration/shaking when sewing at high speed, due to the lightweight characteristic. It is great to have a modern tool!
Pros:Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

This is my first sewing machine and my first time sewing. I find this machine to be extremely easy to use. It's easy to wind the bobbin, thread the machine and needle. Works well on many different types of fabrics and projects. Has just the right amount of features and stitches for learning how to use a sewing machine, at an affordable price.
From the first stitch to when I finally returned the machine a month later, i never once was able to sew a garment without something breaking,or the stitching ruining the fabric. This is by far the worst sewing machine ever - and I come from a long line of Singer users, but sadly, all the ones owned by family members are older i.e. when they were still made in America!
Pros:Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

I'm a beginning sewer and I just wanted a machine to do alterations. This machine fit my needs; easy to use and affordable. The demo CD was very helpful in teaching me how to get started and the machine offers me everything I need to alter and even more. I would recommend this machine for people just learning to sew or for people who just need a machine with basic features.
Pros:Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Instructional Dvd Helpful, Easy To Learn

I wanted to take up sewing and got this machine for Christmas. I absolutely LOVE IT! Here's what I liked:
1) The instructional DVD was extremely helpful. I learned many things from this video, as did my mom who has sewn in the past
2) This machine is easy to use, just plug it in, turn it on and you're ready to sew!
The step by step video on how to thread the machine is great, but if you're eager like me and want to jump right into action, the numbered instructions on the machine itself are easy to follow
3) The threader assistant!! Man, this makes life a lot easier not having to fight putting the thread through the needle hole. Just lower the assistant and viola! You're machine is threaded
I would suggest watching the video for how to use this properly
4) Ease of Use
After threading the machine, it simply is just turn it on and you're ready to go! This is a great machine to learn to sew on, it supports your basic beginner projects as well as more advanced ones like quilting.
5) The Singer Brand
It's good to know the Singer brand is behind this; they have been making sewing machines for years and have really made this machine convenient and easy to use. You'll fall in love with sewing very quickly!
definitely a learning tool for a 48 yr old beginner

Now don't get me wrong, I have sewed once or twice but never really got into it. Most everything I had to sew was done by hand and that really wasn't the prettiest stitching. Well Wal-mart was selling this sewing machine for $99 and a brother model for $79, I had to keep family tradition so I got this singer. I had it for almost 2 months before I did anything with it. when i did decide to try to sew i almost broke it, but I'm getting used to it and enjoy it very much! The only thing, I should have been the one to test all your machines, because if they survive thru what I can put them thru, they will be very durable!
I had a Mini Ultra Kenmore just plug and use,at last it broke.
Well I read quite a few reviews online on this one and despite them I bought one. At first I thought I was going to regret it. As I encountered problems with just reading the manual and attempting to use my new machine. (ie couldn't get the automatic threader to work, bunched up thread under the fabric)
But I paused and viewed the DVD that came with it. Very helpful tutorial, it has the maintenance and troubleshoot section.**** Solved the problems I encountered and am now finishing my small quilting project.
Easy to use, and understand. Works well and stiches are great and no skipping. is wonderful for a beginner to learn and returning sewist. Get it dont think about it to much is a good machine..
Pros:Good Value, Easy To Use, Great For Beginners!

I've never used a sewing machine and wanted a simple, easy to use model to make small dolls' clothes. The instruction manual is very detailed and easy to understand and the machine is the perfect size. I love that it is lighteight so can take or store it anywhere.
My last machine broke and was too expensive to repair. I purchased this machine and am very happy with it. It came with a soft carrying case which is really nice. The machine is easy to set up and use.
