This was a Xmas gift so I used the quick start guide and read the "STOP before returning your Singer sewing machine" warning page before I started to sew. This is a quiet lightweight machine that performs as a flexible heavyweight. no problems with birdsnesting in bobbin area - just use a metal class 15 bobbin, also you need to raise the presser foot when threading the machine - then you lower the presser foot just before you get to the needle.
I recieved this machine for Christmas and was very excited. I followed all the directions exactly for set up and used all the correct stuff, but it kept unthreading amd birdsnesting in the bobbin area. My grandmother recieved the same machine for christmas and had the same problem. I haven't been able to do one project
I was excited to purchase this machine, but had problems with it from the start. The bobbin does not really snap in place, so you have to cross your fingers that it got inserted properly. When sewing layers of fabric, such as corduroy, the needle jams and thread breaks and it's loud! It also seems to auto-correct or something when using different stitches and that is as annoying as auto-correct anywhere else. I do love Singer, but hate this machine.

This is my first sewing machine and I have to say that I love this machine! The features are great, I was dreading making button holes & sewing on buttons but with this machine it was a breeze. If you're just starting out like me this is definitely a great machine to have.
This is a great product overall. I have recently purchased it and it's pretty easy to use. I had some difficulty at the beginning with all the features it has but you get used to it. I'd recommend it to all my friends.

Cons:Buttonholer Could Be A Little Easier To Use

Very good machine for the money. Sews better & better made than a machine I paid 2-1/2 times the money for. Buttonholer a little tricky to use, hard to see what you're doing but went okay after the first couuple. Tried hemming jeans first thing and went through all thicknesses without problem, just have to use the correct needle and go slowly at the seams. Very pleased with this machine.
I've sewn off and on over the years but have never owned my own machine until now. This machine was very easy to set up and begin using. Sews smoothly and quickly. It has many more stiches than I even know what to do with. I can't wait to get more use out of it.
I was given this machine for Christmas after mentioning that I would like to improve upon my childhood sewing. As a kid, I sewed a lot (not very well) and when I was pregnant, I got the opportunity to help make the baby quilt. I want to get into more quilting and other projects.
This machine was not intimidating, especially after reading the materials it came with. I have yet to check out the DVD but I was able to complete a dress for my 3 year old with no issues. Using the machine for sewing the buttons was interesting. I am not sure how much time I saved by using the machine.
I really felt it was easy to set up, easy to use, and made me feel in control of the project. I'm still a little slow but I think that's my own learning curve.
Cons:Thread Feeders On Top And Bottom Get Caught Constantly, Very Frustrating.

Lightweight and nice stitching. The thread gets caught on the top feeder piece and also in the bobbin feeder and breaks often. I had to put a piece of tape on the top of feeder to prevent breakage. I love the built in storage area and auto threader/cutter.

Love the ease of this machine. The automatic needle threader has been a lifesaver for me. It has sewn everything I've tried to sew and no problems at all. GREAT investment!!

I've had this machine for a few months now and it works great for all of my projects. It is somewhat basic, should be easy for beginners or also has enought features for people who have been sewing for a while. I was a bit taken back with the metal bobbin since I only had machines with plastic that threaded themself, but it was simple to learn with the book. I didn't like the main foot that came on the machine b/c it kept catching my edges when top stitching, but I just put one from my old machine and it works great.

I wanted an embroidery machine, faster, stronger. When I saw the store I fell in love. It is quiet, soft. I regret that the needle threader only worked three days. Here in Brazil it is new. The price is high, but it has many functions. But got a very good price. One detail, here at Brazil it's color is blue, not lavander.

I am a beginner but this machine has made me improve immensely. Easy to set up and use, it is dependable and has all the versatility I need for my flag projects. I can't blame the machine for my shortcomings but it is a great starter machine for an affordable price.
Pros:Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality
Cons:Thread Tension Must Be Exact To Sew, Didn't Come W/any Screwdrivers For Maintenance

I've been sewing for almost 20yrs. I owned a Brother 3100? for the past 13. Wanted an upgrade for Christmas this past year. Has tons of wonderful stitches, BUT...if the thread tension on the bobbin is not extremely tight or exactly perfect, the stitches all come out wrong. Otherwise, it's been a great improvement over my last sewing machine for amount of stitches and styles/types of them. Easy to adjust w/the electronic keypad (my last was manual).
I like the machine, but it hasn't worked very well since the day I opened it. About every 3rd time I use it, it will either jam really badly or the pedal doesn't work. Not sure what to do about it, but I need my machine to make crafts to sell for my livelihood. Not awesome!
I had a mother and grandmother that the only machine they would have was a Singer. This makes my third. I love it. I'm not a everyday sewer but when I do sew this is wonderful. I am so glad I picked this one.
I'm a former Singer machine owner & although this model is a little different than prior thought it would operate the same. Read manual....the handle wheel is suppose to turn counter clockwise but doesn't move anywhere. Any I not doing something correctly?
