I was so excited when I found this Sewing/Embroidery Machine. The features on it were amazing. i could not wait till I got it so that I could try it. Other than a sewing machine years ago I have not owned an embroidery machine from Singer. I have embroidery machines by other makers and love them. I used this to sew a few times and had problems with thread breaking. When it came to the embroidery every few stitches the thread breaks. I am frustrated and disappointed in this machine. I read mixed reviews on this but wanted to try it out for myself. In my stupidity I did not send it back in time for a refund from the store I purchased it from so I am stuck with a very expensive sewing machine that sits on my shelf.

I like the stability of this machine. I haven't done much embroidery on it as I have had problems getting the software installed. I downloaded the WIN8 update and still having problems with the CD sent with the machine.

I really wanted to love this machine but I'm afraid I don't. Sewing machine works great but that's all. Threader doesn't work and it won't embroider. I took it to your Authorized Service Center here in Nampa, Idaho but to no avail. He said to send it back to you. I bought it in Nov.2012 so it's out of warranty now. Why did I wait so long? Well, I am an experienced sewer and I thought I didn't want to think it was the machine. I thought it was me so I keep trying to make it work, but to no avail. The service man said he try to fix one thing and another thing would go wrong so finally he gave it back to me and said to sent it to you. I'm sorry. I really wanted to love this machine. I'm very disheartened. I don't know what to do now. If I send it to you I'm afraid it will cost more to fix (if it can be fixed) than the amount I bought it for.

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Some Of The Instructions For The Embroidery Functions Are Not Detailed Enough.

I have been sewing since high school & have always enjoyed the creation and results. In my my mid sixties now I decided to purchase & learn how to use a more advanced machine. I am enjoying the ease of the SEQS-6000 in the use of the sewing side. It is a bit more complicated learning some of the more computer involved instructions. I am getting there & enjoy the results & achievement. I think the machine is a very good value for all the functions it provides. I'm looking forward to learning more!

I was very excited when I received my machine. I had saved up enough money to buy the Singer SEQS-6000 sewing/embroidery machine after wanting an embroidery machine for years. After using it only a few times my machine stopped working. I sent it to closest service center which cost almost $100 to ship it. After 2 weeks of not hearing from service center, I called them and they explained that they had not had a chance to look at my machine. I couldnt believe that not only did they not call or email me to let me know they had my machine but they hadnt even looked at it. On week 3 they finally called and said my machine was having MAJOR issues, and they had to send it to Singer because they could fix it. The service center had no phone number to give me so that I could speak with someone at Singer as to the status of my $900 machine. It is over a month now and I have no idea as to if my machine will be fixed, or what they are planning to do to remedy my situation. I am truly dissapointed.

The first machine I purchased worked to sew one project, and one embroidery project, Then on the second embroidery project the bobbin thread kept getting jammed and broke all of the needles. I powered it down and went to turn it back on and the machine wouldnt even turn on. Returned it to the store for a new one that I had to wait two weeks to get. The first time I used it the same thing happened with the bobbin. I even went as far as to go on your website to make sure I was threading the machine correctly, and I didnt find that I was doing anything wrong. Returned the machine for a refund and bought a different brand

This machine, for what it's features promise, fails epically. It's iffy at best on sewing, the embroidery part is what I was most excited about and ironically the part I'm most disappointed with. When I embroidered for the first time I embroidered what was only supposed to be a one hour project, took me 4 hours, broke two needles, thread breaks more times than care to mention, hoop removal is a pain, stitches "bunched up" on backside of shirt. Very disappointed in embroidery, purchased from HSN in July and it's too late to return it or that thing would be on the next mail truck headed out of town. I guess I will own an expensive, "iffy" sewing machine as I will be in the market for an embroidery only machine.

I got this machine to learn to sew and also to learn how to quilt, loved the machine when I was sewing the quilt top but when I got to the quilting spent more time pulling out stitches than quilting until I met a person who also had one that gave me pointers, now I don't have any problems used the embroidery unit the other day and love love love it.

I owned this machine for 3 weeks before admitting defeat, I took it back to the store where it was swapped out for an identical model. Amazing, I now love it instead of loathing it. I did have to buy a spool holder attachment for a husquvarna machine to sort out the thread problem which these machines all have, I did look for a similar attachment in Singer shop but there is none, now it works like a dream

Thought I was getting a great deal and was super excited. Had problems with the embroidery part: continual broken thread when it was not, knotting threads, breaking needles, loose stitching and the fact that the arms were not easy to slide in. I called Singer and sat on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes with no help. Returning this machine.

I would recommend this machine. I had a brother se 400 and wanted to move up. I like the computerization and the ability to change the designs. One thing i agree with others is the thread breaking. I tihnk it has to do with the little screw before you get to the needle. The diagram doesn't match the machine and you cant tell if you are doing it right or not. Otherwise I am quite pleased with the machine. It is a lot to learn and i look forward to it!

This is my first embroidery machine and I'm thrilled. I've been sewing for over 20 years and I have a fashion design degree, but never managed to do any of my own machine embroidery. I decided to take the plunge and I'm so glad I bought this machine.

I love Singer sewing machines and own several home machines. I also use some commercial Singer products. This is the first new Singer product I've purchased in a while and I could not be any more pleased. It's so easy to use and right out of the box I was able to embroider with the on screen prompts and straight forward approach of the software. Obviously I purchased this machine because of the value and I'm impressed. This machine requires a Windows based computer and to me that is truly a benefit compared to other embroidery machines that have a built in screen. By using your computers monitor, things are easier to see and you have more control and clearly more features.

Besides being a great home embroidery machine, it is also a fantastic sewing machine with impressive features like the auto bobbin winder that starts with the flip of the lever and stops when the bobbin is fully wound. Also threading the machine is so simple.

I clearly love this machine and I wonder why I waited so long to buy it. It's so pretty!

Please keep in mind that machine with the embroidery attachment installed, requires a little more room than the average sewing machine, it also requires space for the computer.

I bought this machine so I could embroider and sew since I have two kids. I was asked to embroider 9 t shirts and the machine embroidery did not complete 2, messed up the p in the word 3 times and made the k look like an x. I had to re purchase all these shirts. I have yet to be able to embroider a single thing with out it messing up.

Customer Service is Lacking

Overall Rating:

Cons: Poor Quality, Expensive

22 out of 23 people found this helpful.

I purchased this machine last year. Within a few months I had problems with it. I contacted customer service and was told to send it in to a warranty center. Finally recieved it back after a month. I haven't had the chance to sew with it as I work 12 hour days and live 2 hours away from where I work. I finally was able to pull it out and it wouldn't sew. I did some research and noticed the Bobbin Case was damaged (looks like a needle went through it). There were reviews on HSN about damaged Bobbin Cases. They contaced Singer and were sent a new one. I sent an email to Singer as I can't wait on hold for 30 plus minutes. I recieved a email that wasn't kind nor the customer service I expect from a brand like Singer. I finally got some time off and called on 5/23/13. I was on hold for over 30 minutes. I spoke with a customer service rep who stated that they didn't send out new bobbin cases for these machines, it isn't their policy to do so. She spoke with her manger and came back on the phone and told me the same thing. I would have to purchase a bobbin case for the machine. My husband and I are both Vets and he isn't working. I can't afford to buy a new Bobbin Case espically with the cost of gas for my drive to work. I purchased the machine so I could make some extra money. I shouldn't have wasted my money. Now I am stuck with a machine I can't use. Very frustrating experience with Singer. I have many Singer Machines and I haven't had this problem before. I will not be buying another Singer Machine!

Nothing but problems

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value When It Works Right

Cons: Frustrating When These Problems Occur

22 out of 23 people found this helpful.

I am a seasoned sewer and really looked forward to getting into machine embroidery. I bought the machine for my birthday in Sept. 2012. I didn't start using it until later in the year. At first I thought the problems were just me being unfamiliar with the machine.
1. I have a major problem with the jump stitches getting caught on the needle plate underneath. I have to constantly remove the hoop and cut the jump stitches. When these catch the entire project is ripped from the hoop or partially removed. I thought it was the bobbin causing the problem but finally figured it out. I put scotch tape over the needle plate edges to prevent this problem.
2. When the design calls for a long jump stitch, the upper thread does not feed fast enough and it causes the needle to break off. There is no remedy in the tension settings either. Even 0 doesn't help. I have to stop the machine before the end of a block and cut the thread. I spend a lot of time rethreading.
3. I get loopy stitches on top if I don't hold on to the upper thread as it comes off the spool. Also thread tends to get wrapped around the thread spindle, between the spool and the thread holder that slides on the spindle. This causes the thread to get real tight and break. It doesn't matter which of the three spool holder covers I use.
4. The bobbin holder does not stay in the right position. I found that the spring that butts up against it on the right was up too high. I bent it down a little and now the bobbin holder stays
in place unless my thread tightens up. Keep an eye on the bobbin holders position. The black stop on the case on the right should bump up against the spring, not go past it to the right.
5. The needle plate has way too much play in it. When you remove it to clean the area beneath it you have to be very careful to get it back in the exact position. If you don't you get bird's nests underneath. You need to keep adjusting the plate position until the bird's nests quit.
I get an aeroebic workout when I embroider with this machine, but in the end I win and have been able to produce some nice projects.

Software is faulty machine is great! I love the machine when you can keep it going the software leaves much to be desired! Singer needs to get with the programers and kick start them! They are way behind! I am always having problems keeping the Autopunch installed as well as the PhotoStitch any extras it has! Very irritating since this IS one of the features I wanted most!

Hate this machine. Do NOT purchase

Overall Rating:

Pros: It Comes In A Nice Box, The Lady's Voice On The Tutorial Is Pleasant.

Cons: Path Of The Thread Is Not Visible, Software Is Outdated Compared To The Adobe Editing Products Available, Difficult To Edit Embroidery Patterns, Toolbar On Software Does Not Have Stitch Pattern Alternatives, Arcane Names For Wizard-based Programs On The Tool Bar Limit The Ability To Design, Thread Holder Requires A Net Bag. No Place To Store Other Colors Frequently Used In A Complicated Design, Auto Needle Threader Had To Be Aligned By Store Manager., When I Went To Change The Bobbin, Then Restored The Hoop, It Was No Longer Aligned. Had To Throw Away Several Hours Of Labor (including All Of The Broken Threads), The Tutorials Are Not In-depth Enough For A User Who Wants To Design

29 out of 32 people found this helpful.

Having now purchased three different brands of new thread, the machine still will not thread properly. It shears the thread while it passes through the body, so the user cannot see where the problem might be. Wasted 6 hours doing a project that took me two on my old machine. And, it looks terrible because of all the broken ends.
Plus, the embroidery software is dated. You cannot upload additional fonts, you have to go to a wizard-based program for lettering that is very passé. Stitch editing of purchased embroidery patterns is impossible.
The machine arrived missing the bobbin cover plate. I borrowed one from the display at the store because the email on this site was never answered. After days of telephoning, I have finally got one on order (parts are not available for this machine on the sites recommended by Singer) to give back to the store. However, as soon as I find the receipt, this machine is going back into its box and back to the store.
I HATE THIS MACHINE.

Disappointed

Overall Rating:

33 out of 35 people found this helpful.

I have been sewing for over over 30 years -- since I first took home economics in school -- and also teach computer classes for the local college, so I was not intimidated at the thought of learning how to use the machine. However, this experience has been a nightmare!
For one thing, I have the same problem as another reviewer in that tension is so tight it breaks thread and needles. Have tried different threads, different needles, different stabilizers with same results.

Software has lots of functionality, but has a mind of its own. It asks me to set points for multi-hooping when I have a single hoop and a design that is nowhere near oversized. It stops for a thread change when the stitch indicator still has as many as 25-30 stitches left. It beeps and tells me it has a thread break when the thread is obviously in the needle (ended up rebooting to solve that one).

So far I have had the machine 5 months and only two projects actually were successful!
As someone who has owned Singer machines for years -- currently a serger and Quantum CXL -- I am disappointed in what promised to be a fun and exciting addition to my sewing room.

Yes, I have contacted the Internet seller (who essentially put everything on Singer). Singer's response was to ask a multitude of questions "Are you using XYZ threads?" (yes) "Are you using XYZ needles?" (yes) And so on. I cannot guess how much $$ I have put into trying out all of the diverse options to no avail.

I had such high hopes that I would be able to add embroidery designs to my Christmas gifts this year (I gave myself a 5-month start for the learning curve), and have absolutely nothing! In fact, the project I was working on last night was almost finished -- not without problems but nevertheless progressing -- when the tight thread tension was so bad that during carriage movement the taut thread literally pulloed the entire right half of the fabric out of the hoop and srunched it up in the middle of the frame! In spite of careful marking of the fabric, that 1/100" that it will take to align everything back to original will probably never happen.

When I contacted my local repair shop who has worked on my Singer machines for years, he said he no longer works on them but wouldn't say why. The nearest Service Center is two hours away. And I can't find lessons anywhere near me (which I didn't think I would need so it wasn't an issue when I purchased).

this is the most cumbersome, hard to use, frustrating machine that a person could buy. It was expensive, and I am unable to use the embroidery aspect for several reasons. The surger does not work well, and the sewing is ify at best. Would not recommend to my worst enemy let alone a friend or fellow sewing enthusiast?

Futura Quartet SEQS-6000

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: Poor Quality

I love the machine when it works. Within a week after purchasing, the thread caught on a portion of the bobbin case and wound around creating a huge nest beneath the plate. After getting it untangled and cleaned out, I found a projection on the bobbin case had bent upward so that the thread caught on it and it would not sew without creating a nest beneath the plate. I finally convinced the company that I purchased it from that it needed replaced and they sent me another even though they wanted me to return the machine. Once I replaced the bobbin case, it has been great until today (almost four months). Another nest was created under the plate ruining the article I was embroidering. After getting it untangled, I could see that there were two needle holes in the bobbin case created (I assume) by the needle hitting it. I am not sure how this happened but now there is another rough spot and the thread catches on it and it will not sew. Now I am in need of another bobbin case which will mean purchasing it at $26 or returning the machine for warranty work. I am in the middle of several projects for Christmas which will not be completed because of the delay. While I like the machine, even if I get it repaired, I can no longer have confidence in it, because I will never know when this will happen again. Another annoyance is that the threads on top of the machine have two places where they tangle and cause breakages which I have learned to keep an eye on. I learned to sew on my mother's Singer over 40 years ago and was so excited to be purchasing a Singer for myself and now I am very disappointed.

I purchased this to replace my older Singer (as in 35 y/o). Having always done embroidery and quilting by hand, I thought this would be a great tool for my hobby. Boy, was I right!!!! Just love this machine and yes, there was a small learning curve but not enough to make this old grey head concerned. Slight difficulty with the additional software programs "nesting" into the basic software program. Resolved easily by updating software, etc. using the dropdown menu in the basic program. I'm so glad I purchased this machine.

For NOW, I must give this machine a one star...I bought the machine & used it ONCE, and now can not get the feed dog to spring back in to place! I had read other reviews on other websites that claim this is a common issue...I just HATE I was one of those who got a dud machine! I am waiting to hear back from Customer Support...I am also hoping to come back and rate this machine a 5-Star machine! I would HIGHLY suggest that you move your Feed Dog to ensure it works properly while you are in the store! Ask them to open up box and you move it back and forth several times! Trust me...it will save you a headache once you get home! On the plus side, I did use the Embroidery Unit and it worked like a charm!

I retired my basic Pfaff for this machine and the sewing functionality is great. The machine is electronic so the thread tension is very picky, but after that learning curve their have been no problems.
The embroidery program does not load correctly onto my computer and tech support is not helpful. They want this to be a computer problem, not a software problem. I can use the pre-loaded items with no problems, but not any of the cool auto-punch and other features that I paid extra for.

I considered other brands before purchasing this machine but decided to go with this because of the price and ability to flex pay on HSN. I am really glad I made this choice. Great product. There have been some issues but because I believe in "human error" I have re-examined my actions and been able to make corrections. I have also learned that some thread works better than others for embroidery. For example, Sulky bobbin thread works best for me. I also don't lower my feed dogs when quilting. I just set my stitch length to zero. I do this because my pressure foot control got stuck one time. After I was able to get it back in place I decided to try Leah Day's method. See Free Motion Quilting project website. Anyway, hope this review helps you. Great machine! Have fun!

The Singer Futura Quartet SEQS-6000, is truly the Cadillac of sewing machines. I love the capabilities of not having to switch to different machines to perform different tasks. I just constructed a brautiful multi layered flower girl dress with pick ups, and a gorgeous embellished veil, and i am anticipating my next usage for it. It is self explanatory. I never used any tutorial. this machine is more than I could have prayed for and the attachments are superb! I also purchased the rolling, portable machine bag which has now made it a custom cadillac!

One hint clean out your feed dog and your bobbin case hook after doing several sewing projects. Change your needle according to thread and fabric.
I like all the features this machine has to offer and there are loads. The decorative stitches are very nice and easy to use. I love using my computer with my FQSeqs-6000. I embroidered first time and did not have to fiddle with anything. the software, sewing machine and computer work hand in hand. Very nice machine and the singer quality is there.

I was so excited to get this machine I am an avid quilter and craft maker and have never owned an embroider machine so I thought why not get all the machines in one. I paid, for me as I am retired, a great deal of money for this machine The sewing part of the machine worked great at first until I tried using the embroidery attachment. The first time I used it everytime the pattern jumped from the end of one section to the beginning of another section the thread tension does not release and the needle breaks. After the second needle broke I can hear metal rubbing on metal inside the head of the machine. Also part of the bobbin housing has broke off. Probably because it is built of cheep plastic. This is the 4th Singer machine I have owned and always counted on Singer making only good quality. I have only had this machine since December 2011 and will have to have it repaired. The machine has great features, if it worked correctly. I wish I had spent my money on something else.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase of this machine. I am new to machine embroidery, but what I have tried was successful and there are alot of web sites that have great information for beginners. For regular sewing, this machine is so easy to use for both big and small jobs. Threading and bobbin winding is a breeze. Just to be able to have the needle stay in the fabric when sewing stops is such a time saver. I love having a speed control and "defaults" for all of the different stitches takes alot of the guess work away. It sews so smoothly and I think it has improved the quality of my finished products. I can't wait to get home from work everyday to sit down with my Futura Quartet!

Recieved this as a Christmas present this year and it is absolutely the best sewing machine I have owned and I have been sewing for over 40 years. Love the embroidery aspect of this machine and that I just use my laptop. The autopunch software is awesome. It was a great value on HSN as it came with the Autopunch, Photostitch, and Font software as well as all the different pressure feet and the sew/cut foot that makes the machine act as a surger. The only thing it didn't come with is the CrossStitch software which I would have really like to have but buying that alone is a little pricey. If you are looking for an "all-in-one" machine, this is the one for you!

This machine does it all with precision. Like another reviewer, I hadn't sewn a stitch in over 30 years and decided to learn how to quilt. I looked at several machines and decided on this one. I found this machine to be very easy to use, and I love all the features it offers. I've been sewing everyday since I received it and I love, love, love it!! The price of this machine with all of the features and accessories that come with it make this a perfect choice. If you love to sew, quilt, and/or embroidery, then this is the one...it does it all.

:( had about a month and need service.

Cons: Repair So Soon??

enjoyed many features. taught myself free-motion quilting, used the embrodery features and was having a ball. Went back to ordinary sewing and tried to put the feed-dogs up and it just wouldn't move the fabric. Had to send it to the Tenn. repair center because there wasn't an authorized Singer repair in the whole town of Duluth. I had planned to keep the machine so I threw the box out. MISTAKE. Save the box somewhere so you don't have to pay the packing cost to ship it back.

this was my first embroidery machine and I have to say I am very impressed with the ease of use. Set up was easy I called singer with a few questions and can see why they have been labeled "award winning service". The stitch function is perfect bobbin winder is a must have and using the control speed in place of foot pedal is a huge sell The machine is resonably priced I love the abilty to connect to my PC the large screen on PC is a advantage over the LCD screen on other machines The sewing fuctions is very typical of singer high quality overall I have to rate 5 stars my sister is so impressed with my machine she is going to buy one don't hesitate to buy this machine this is my second singer they really stand by there products

Cons: Poor Quality, Needs Lcd Display

I was so excited to get the machine. The sewing part did good but when I got to the embroidery part the machine kept pulling out the bobbin case. I tried several things and then the machine just made a big clunk sound and that was it, I had to send it back.

I am very happy with the Futura Quartet SEQS-6000. I previously had the Futura 250. The increased hoop sized is a great improvement. I do miss the led display of the 250. The machine is great, the stitching quality is great. This is the easiest threading machine I have ever threaded.

WOW! I love this machine. It does everything. I have two other top of the line models from P**FF and B**Y L**K and this one gives them a run for the money. I love the software and how much I can do with it, the stitches are gorgeous and the accessories that came with the Quartet 6000 are unbeatable. I am so happy that I bought this machine. My only regret is that I wish it had come out before I bought my other machines because this machine would have fully sufficed all of my sewing/embroidering needs. Great job Singer!

For the cost of what I received I just couldn't pass it up. I've been wanting this type of machine for as long as I could remember. Could never aford a machine like this and now I can because of HSN deal. It works like magic and I just love it. Need lessons on embrodery but that will come soon enough. I'm so thankful for this machine.

Great stitch quality, even at higher speeds.
I now prefer this over my Janome machine for
embroidery and regular sewing. Slightly noise, can live with that. I am waiting for tutorial CD
to expand my horizons with the many features
for editing and photo embroidery etc. Will add
more as my learning curve increases. Really
easy to layout embroidery with accuracy.
Have had machine for 1 week, can't wait to get
home from work and try new features.

I have only had this machine for 3 days but so far very happy. It runs smoothly and has a lot a nice features. Love the fact that you can wind bobbins while sewing. The hoop attachment is much nicer than previous models. Easy threading and bobbin start. Love the LED light. Still have a lot to learn but am off to a great start. My old machine is 22 years old and still going. It cost me twice what I payed for this one. I wanted the embroidery and quilting capability this machine offered. Hope I get as much enjoyment and reliability from this machine. I let you know what I think farther down the road.
