Since 1851, the name Singer has been synonymous with sewing. The spirit of practical design and creative innovation that characterized the company at its beginning continues today as we develop products for every level of sewing. We have celebrated many firsts, including the world's first zig-zag machine, the first electronic machines and we now proudly produce the world's most advanced home sewing and embroidery machine. From home décor and clothing construction to embroidery and quilting, SINGER® is dedicated to help people express themselves through sewing.
After I learned to use the machine, I find I really love it. I was overwhelmed by it at first. I tried and tried to figure the button hole maker and the different stitches but just kept getting frustrated every time. I didn't realize on the buttonholer that a piece came down which enabled the thing to work. I kept getting an error on the screen. I finally went to Joann's and paid 25.00 to get someone to "teach" me how to use the machine. My instructor took me step by step through the book and it was a breeze with his help. The video that came with the machine was useless to me. I have been sewing for years and am pretty tech savey but this machine baffled me at first. The self threader is great, but you have to align the thread in the right position. Once you get the hang of it, it works everytime. Like any machine, you have to know how to use it.

For over 30 years, I have a basic, heavy, standard-type machine. It still works fine. However, when I saw the Singer H74 machine on HSN, the price, coupled with all the extra value pieces made it something I couldn't pass up. Am I disappointed? Not at all. The hardest thing I encountered so far was just making sure the top thread was threaded correctly. The instruction book offers easy-to-follow directions and explanations of common problems. The feature of automatic thread-cutting, auto reverse, and the computerized "fancy" stiches, will enable me to do much more than basic sewing. No - it is not the same as a $1,000+ machine, if that's what you're truly looking for. This is a wonderful upgrade for me and I haven't regretted it at all. Cons - wish it was a little bit easier to thread the top, but all in all, I'm a satisfied customer.
Loves the many functions it has. All the feet and ease. What needs to be fixed is the light. Really? It's like hardly there. :(. The reverse button doesn't always work. The thread cutter and needle threader are tempermental. You have to be willing to put up with some of its behavior for the extras it does have. I just wanted to get back into sewing after years of a break. Wish I could have bought a powerhouse machine with all the bells and whistles. Oh well the economy doesn't support that today. Neither does my purse.

This is my first ever machine, yes I probably bought a machine too much for a beginner, but I am lovin' it! I haven't had any issues of using the machine. The instruction booklet is very easy to read, and I've been trying to experiment with the different presser feet! I got tons cause I purchased the machine on HSN and it came with the Value Pack of accessories. For me this is a great machine, its combining my love of being creative and with a touch of modern technology with all the different functions this machine has to offer! Great buy for me! A+ Singer!
I bought this Singer because it could print and what fun I've had printing! The first time I tried it was difficult but the second time I just sailed thru an was glad I stuck with it. I'm seventy-two and still learning.
The bobbin cover is hard to get back under clip. The thread cutter is great, but then needle unthreads when you start to sew again. The needle threader does not line up, takes many tries to get needle threaded. The autolock sometimes pulls out easily.
Nice machine..efficient..fairly easy to learn attachments and different stitches...have used it over 100 hours. Recently needed timing of bobbin adjusted but under warranty so appreciated that aspect. Would recommend a better manual for the bobbin area. More pictorial detail would be beneficial when learning to clean the bobbin area. First time was rather difficult to understand the process. Overall very pleased with machine.

Just got my new machine today and feel like I've entered the space age. This machine has everything I need and more. A real giant step up from my old zig-zag with none of the features this one has.. Expecially appreciate the auto thread cutter and the threader. Looking forward to creating some cute stuff for Christmas presents. Great price!
Cons:Poor Quality, Breaks Easiily, And Not Just Anyone Can Repair This Machine, It Required Shipping To Service Center., Singer Never Answered My Email Concerning This Machine., Phone Contact With Customer Service Is Terrible (long Waits)

I bought this machine, it is very easy to use, and I loved it, until it broke (the first week). The bobbin jammed and everything shut down. This machine cannot be fixed by just any sewing maching repairman, and I was instructed to ship it off to a service center. The company where I bought it, replaced it with a new one. First time out of the box the same thing. The bobbin jammed, and the machine froze. I took it back and got my money back. I have been sewing for over 50 years and have only purchased singer sewing machines. Five in total (currently have one over 75 years old, and one over 25 years old - and have NEVER have a problem with either one). I read the manual from cover to cover prior to using this machine for the first time. I called singer several times and the wait time is well over an hour (I am always 18 or 20 in line), and their phone lines close at 4PM. I sent an email (as they suggested) and no one answered it. I am so disgusted, and I will never buy another Singer Sewing Machine. This one was built in China, and everything about it seems cheap and of poor quality.

I purchased this machine for my sister and she Loves it. She had my L-500 for a time and I wanted to get her something similar that she could use. She has made so many things for her girls and they are now interested in sewing. It is different from mine but still easy for her to use. She wants me to come over all the time so she can show me how to do things on it. I am glad she is enjoying it.
Has lots of great features however as soon as you really use it, the boobin gets out of whack. Sadly I will have to call the repair center and have it sent off to get it fixed again. Too bad it will be temporary
Cons:Poorly Oranized And Written Instruction Manual

Overall, a good machine. Problems with needle threader, thread cutter. Instruction manual needs an index, better illustrations. Instructions are not clear and are incomplete. The required bobbin is not specified anywhere. Sews well, has great attachments.
Cons:Needs To Have An Instructional Video Add A Conn

I purchased this machine on 2/12/13. This is a
great little work horse for the money. I was a little apprehensive about all the features, but so far it is doing a great job. The only complaint I have is that it didn't have a instructional video. It takes some patience to figure it all out, but if you have the time it is well worth it. I had a husqvarna that I paid $1000 for and it died after 4 years and I spent well over $200 two time to get the thing repaired. I would recommend this machine for the money it's a great deal.
I haven't had much time to use my new machine, because it was a Christmas Present from my husband. I had seen this mechine demoed on T.V. . And fell in love with it and said some day. Thankyou to my Husband, he's a keeper!
