I have had my 2277 for only 2 days, but have made 3 blankets with matching pillows for my grandkids and now a long dress for my daughter for her Halloween costume. I had my old machine for about 25 years and it was starting to go. This new Singer has made the past 2 days of sewing a breeze!! I love it!!
I have only had the machine a short time and have used it for only the basics (seams/hems). On the whole, it works very nicely and the manual is very helpful. The automatic needle threader has not worked from the first use and one day the motor felt like it was running on run-down batteries. Otherwise, so far the machine has operated smoothly. I wish it had come with a storage case and I haven't figured out how to overcome sewing over thick seams (e.g., when hemming blue jeans).
I have had this machine since November of 2011and only used to make two children's blanket and that is it. The Machine only stitches backwards and will not sew anything heavy weight. I tried to hem some 10 year old jeans which I know were worn but the machine would not work then I tried to sew velcro to a patch and that was a joke. Very disappointed with my machine I hate to even try and take it back because I have no doubt that I will probably have trouble in returning it to the store.

I love the Tradition sewing machine! I will definitely be starting(& finishing) many more projects with it! So glad it comes with a dvd, since watching it made using the machine very simple especially since I haven't used many machines or been sewing for very long. I've used it for a few projects already, and feel very comfortable & confident using it. It has plenty of great features for an excellent price!
I love this little machine. It is so smooth, no bunching of the bobbin thread and constant tension problems like my old one. The DVD helped get me started. The automatic needle threader is a nice feature. I realize that I was not sewing because my older machine was such a headache with bunching, stalling, thread breaking, etc. This one is fun and I've already completed one project and onto the next.

Pro's - easy to use, works well for what little sewing I do.
Con's - Auto threader is a pain (I don’t use it) and occasionally the bobbin thread will bunch up and break.
Other than the 2 con’s it’s a great little machine for the price

I have had this machine for a month or so now and have used it for making simple curtains and valances. I am very happy with it and the extra stitches are a very nice feature. I have used one, so far and it was very easy. I am not a seamstress, just every day sewer. I would recommend this machine. It seems to be made very well and I have had no problems at all. Great value.

I haven't sewn in years, but my daughter wanted a t-shirt quilt. The machine works wonderfully sewing the t-shirt, interfacing and the cotton fabric sashing together. The stitches are uniform and don't seem to bunch. Love the ease of reverse stitching. It is very easy to use. Haven't figured out how the automatic needle threader works, but also haven't watched the DVD yet.
I have owned my machine for a couple months now. Overall I like it, it is a basic machine that it great for just getting started. It is easy to use and the DVD that is included it very helpful. I am having to buy more accessories for my machine than I anticipated which is a downside for me, but overall I haven't had many problems using my machine.
I am an amateur and follow the instructions to a T, threading through the bobbin doesn't work, it gets tangled every time, I've never been able to use my machine even once in the few months I've owned it and I'm furious. I'm about to throw this thing against a wall and buy a different one from another brand. I don't appreciate having my time or money wasted. Thanks Singer.

I purchased this machine mainly because I needed a machine to do some basic repairs. I grew up in a house where mom used a Singer sewing machine -- this product has, by far, exceeded all of my expectations! The price can't be beat and it is a sturdy machine that can handle just about any tasks you need to do. I love this machine and am so happy with it! It has already paid for itself with all of the repairs to clothing I've done! LOVE IT!
I've only had it a short time and am having trouble with the under thread snarling and bunching. Had it serviced where I bought it and it's doing the same thing the first time I try to use it. I've only had it a few months-of course, just past the return guarantee date. Extremely disappointing. Don't waste your money on this one-maybe spend a few more dollars and save yourself repair bills and headache pills.

I am a beginner and I love this machine. The instruction DVD was very helpful. The automatic threader that some have complained about I had no trouble using. Watch the DVD! I just wish this machine came with a stitch guide. Very confusing for the beginner and the Singer website doesn't have one specific for this machine. All in all great machine.

All went well except I could not figure out how to use the needle threader. It was the main reason I got this model rather than one $10 less. Maybe if I go back to the store of purchase, someone will be able to show me how to use it.
I have used my Tradition on several occasions and each time had problems with winding the bobbin too loose to use in the machine, no worth the bother to use it, so I bought a separate bobbin winder which works much better
