Not For Hemming Jeans

Cons: Bobbin Mechanism Not Strong Enough

I used a weight appropriate needle and thread and the bobbin mechanism broke. Do not use this machine for hemming jeans.

I've already mended denim, made a quilt and did some just "normal" sewing. This machine stood up to it all and did it well.

having a little trouble

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value

Cons: Complicated

1 out of 1 people found this helpful.

Have only used it twice in the two months I have had it. Seems easy enough but I have had trouble threading it both times. Once the upper thread. Second time bobbin. Hopefully I will get the hang of it because I really wanted a machine that caused no frustration when I want or need to use it.

Going back to sewing

Love the machine have not sewn in over 30 years but things never change to much with a good product Only problem just purchased machine and I lost the presser foot and had to purchase a new one. Bought machine at Joann Fabrics from Vikings and they do not honor any coupons Joann Fabrics offers Having to pay for a new foot was not cool.

Major Flaw

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value

Cons: Auto Threader Doesn't Work As Promised

1 out of 1 people found this helpful.

It's a good basic machine, sturdy, does the job. BUT one of the main reasons I bought it was for the automatic needle threader, and I can't make that work at all. I've tried and tried. Your machines are not supported at my local JoAnn Fabric store so I have to use a magnifying glass to thread by hand. Disappointed.

I have a 40 plus Singer machine which has given me very good service. This influenced my recent purchase of a newer model. I don't sew as much these days but the 3321 model fits my current needs. My experience thus far has been good.

Cons: Poor Quality, Just Terrible, Worst Ever

I would give it a zero if that was a choice. My granddaughters first sewing machine and the tension was way too tight. when we tried to change it, it really didn't do much. Worst I have ever seen.

Seems to sew well, but is incredibly loud. Have used it to sew pants' hem, so have only used it a few hours. Followed directions carefully on machine use. Husband says that constant very loud noise is abnormal. Must take it to Singer repair shop to trouble shoot before something breaks. Fortunately, Singer repair shop happens to be in this city, so no shipping. Verdict is pending on overall quality. Hope it's good.

Nice Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use

I have had Singer machines in the past and love them. I purchased this machine for my second house. I split the year between 2 houses and needed an additional machine instead of hauling one back and forth. I have used it for several days now, on small projects and hemming. Tried the buttonholes and sewing on buttons and was very pleased. It was a bit shaky on the table I have it on when sewing at a faster pace but nothing drastic.

Great Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: Stitch Settings Could Be Explained A Little Clearer In Manual For Beginners.

This was a great transition machine for me! I'm still learning, but my first machine was an ancient Kenmore my MIL found at an auction for $10. As with a few other reviews, I'm agreeing with the stitch setting. The manual didn't really explain that, and I'm so glad my MIL was here to help me figure out how to find the best stitch to set. At first the bobbin was catching when I was trying to release and cut the material but I realized that that was because I wasn't descending the needle enough to release everything. It sounded a little noisy to me at first, but it's been smooth sailing ever since the initial setup. I got a great deal on it. So hopefully, this one will last me long enough to improve my skills and invest in something a little fancier down the road.

Talent is NO

Overall Rating:

Cons: Poor Quality, Problematic

I am very disappointed with this machine. If I was a "beginning" sewer, I would return this to JoAnne Fabrics.
I've had it back to the store 3 times - the thread builds up under the fabric. The solution? To unthread the bobbin and top thread every time it jams up. This is counterproductive to say the least!
In addition, the top thread breaks almost every time I begin to sew.
I'm seriously considering returning it for refund. I've been sewing for many years, but do not consider myself a "pro", but I made my daughter's wedding dress and as a thank you received a gift card to purchase a new machine.
The machine I was using was my mother's and was at least 30 years old. Considering going back to it.
I'm not at all happy with the Talent.

Not a workhorse

Overall Rating:

Pros: Easy To Use, Seems To Like Lightweight Fabric

Cons: Poor Quality

2 out of 2 people found this helpful.

This machine will be designated for lightweight use only. I've had to send it to be repaired after only 2 weeks of light use. When it came back, it didn't even engage...had to be sent back again. Service people are nice, but the "repair" left much to be desired. Wonder if I have a lemon??? The self-threader also is less than acceptable.

My old machine of 40 years died! I was nervous about getting a new one. This machine was extremely easy to thread and operate. My biggest fear was getting the tension right, it was
Extremely uncomplicated. I don't do as much intricate sewing any more and wanted a very basic machine, very pleased with this model.

Nice beginner machine

I am a complete beginner. In February I took a free 2-hour sewing machine class at my local library, and then in March my 2nd grader had a Book Character assignment at school and decided to be Willy Wonka. I wanted to make him a lined purple paisley vest from a pattern and so I bought this machine. The vest turned out beautifully! I agree that the manual leaves a lot to be desired, but you can overcome that with diligence. I'm the type of person that makes pages of notes and questions and reads all the directions several times before starting a project. I googled a lot of my questions and asked some experienced friends a few things, and the DVD that comes with the machine was very helpful too. Next I'm going to make some sweatpants for my 5-year old and look forward to learning to use the stretch stitches with knit fabric. I can't wait!!

Disappointed

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use

Cons: Poor Quality, Poor Internal Workmanship.

I purchased this machine to do simple piecing at my quilt guild charity sews.
The machine sounded like it broke a shaft one weekend during the sew. All the ladies were shocked just as I. I am so disappointed. The machine was only 8 months old. When I contacted Singer they stated I would need to take it to a certified Singer repair shop. The closest one is 6 hours away. To ship it would cost more than half of the value of the machine. So you got it. I am going to trash it. Such a shame. I love Singer but the new machine I bought is a Brother. Please be careful using this machine. It can't handle anything but simple two pieces of material sewed together.

I hardly ever sew, but this machine makes it much less daunting! My only complaint would be that the foot pedal is rather light. Otherwise, I think it has been a good purchase.

Talent 3321

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: Manual Not Step-by-step Simple

90 out of 93 people found this helpful.

I would not really recommend a beginner try this machine at home alone as the manual is not step-by-step enough for a beginner. I am a Singer enthusiast, own several vintage Singers, and I really feel that is why I have been able to get excellent results with my Talent 3321. It's a great little machine but getting a good stitch with it was easier because I've sewn on so many different Singers. I knew, for example, that I needed to use the L-screwdriver when changing needles, and that I needed to try all of the stitches on a scrap to figure out what settings were needed to get the stitch I wanted. I will say this little machine sews the nicest stretch stitches and it is very simple to achieve those. The straight stitches are also very nice, something I've not always seen with machines that have both stitch types. The only reason I am not giving this a full five star rating is the manual-it doesn't give sufficient information on setting the stitches. If you buy this machine, and I do recommend it as a wonderful basic machine, make sure you practice with scraps, and take notes right into the manual for future sewing reference. The machine is not as light and jumpy as other reviews here and elsewhere have reported, I deliberately ran it at high speed in several settings and it sat quietly on the sewing table. The bobbin does click a bit whilst sewing but slowing down settles that. Bigger than it looks in the pics, too.

Overall Rating:

Pros: Great Features, Easy To Use, Simple Enough

Cons: A Little Noisy

Fairly easy to use, nice stitches, easy to thread. Could be quieter, not really heavy enough as it likes to jump around a little when sewing at fastest speed.
