Buying Singer's at special Sales at K-mart

Pros:
Easy To Use
Cons:
Poor Quality, Few Features, Expensive

I bought this sewing machine at a special sale at K-mart. Being sold by Southern Sewing Center Inc. out of Florida. Don't buy from these so called sales. You have 3 days to cancel and they charge you 25.00 dollars restock fee. They refuses to take back my unopened box after it took over 2 weeks for me to get my machine. I have used this 2 times and the bobbin won't wind and the thread breaks constantly and you have to re thread. Motor sounds harsh and machine is slow on speed. Head is cheap and bonces all over while you sew. I have to take it 100 miles away to get this fixed under the warranty. I will never buy a new singer again.

Pros:
Looks Nice
Cons:
Poor Quality, Very Limited Customer Service Hours

Just started using my new scholastic 850 on my 1st project. Has already jammed up on me and am now stuck in middle of a unfinished project. Called customer service and on hold x 30+ minutes. Hung up and sent them an email. Going back to my old Babyloc. Have been sewing for over 40 years and have never had this much trouble with a machine.

Same issues

Pros:
Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use
Cons:
Inadequate Manual

I too have the 5511 and found the bobbin would tangle if I used it for long periods. It was the type of thread I was using. I am using duck cotton canvas material and was using upholstry thread, thinking it was sturdy for my project. Once I changed to a regular cotton thread, I no longer have the issue and it's still sturdy enough for what Im working with.

I havent found where to oil this machine tho. The manual stinks.

Works fine if you don't need to use it

Cons:
Poor Quality

If it worked properly it could be a great machine. I have been sewing for years and needed a sewing machine that I could continue to grow with. My mom like myself thought this was a good brand, the machine is not.

The tension never works, even if you turn to the manual (which is impossible to understand). I have read inserting the bobbin clock wise or counter clockwise makes a difference. It doesn't. The stitches are always loose or pulling through.

Good luck using any of the stitches beyond straight, the materials the assemblies are made out of just don't meet the needs of me as a user.

I would recommend going online and finding an old one. Fix that up and it will cost you less than one of these. Plus you won't need to deal with the frustration of needing to fix a new machine that breaks after a month of use.

I don't recommend
