I grew up sewing on my mom's old Singer machine and finally got my own. The Curvy is as smooth as butter and makes sewing so easy. It handles denim and thick materials no problem. Spinning the bobbin, threading the machine and needle and backstitching are so easy! The picture makes the machine look small but it is a very solid sturdy piece of machinery. I told my mom that even though her old Singer is still sewing along, she should treat herself to the Curvy.

I returned the Curvy 8763 one week after I bought it. The presser foot handle broke and I could not move the foot up or down. The motor sounded strained when sewing. Poor quality.

After only 8 months, and warranty service, the bobbin case still pops out and jams the machine. Thinking about buying a different brand.

I have had my Curvy for 3 months now. I love the looks and the features of the machine but feel the quality of the stitches are lacking. It seems to skip a lot of stitches. I have notices the stitches ravel a lot even when back stitched. The stitches just do not seem to lock even when customizing the tension. I have tried using the auto feature for tension and it does not work to my satisfaction either. I have made approx 4 quilts in the time I have had the machine. Yesterday I wanted to work on the current one and the foot pedal does not work. It appears the actual socket on the machine the plug goes into is defective. All in all I am fairly disappointed in the quality of this SINGER product.

It threads easily, sews a bit and then it loops. I thread it again, sews fine and begins to loop. I need to sew and not thread and re-thread the machine. The stitches are poor quality. The zigzag and the other decorative stitches just loop -- overall not a good reliable machine.

I bought this machine about a month ago and already have to have it serviced. I am not at all happy and will never buy another Singer.
Back to sewing!
Overall Rating:
Pros: Good Value, Easy To Use
Cons: Some Parts Are Poorly Made

I haven't sewn anything for over 20 years...my children grew up and I gave away my grandmother's cabinet Singer. I wanted to get back into sewing for my grandchildren. The fancier, computerized sewing machines intimidated me, so I looked for something more familiar. I found the Curvy and couldn't be more pleased!
Pros: Easy to thread (great for my 'older' eyes), easy buttonhole tool, convenient CD tutorials, easy bobbin threading, good choices of basic embroidery stitches
Cons: Some frequently used parts feel flimsy rather than sturdy, needle threader doesn't always work the first time, the foot pedal moves around a lot and doesn't always respond quickly
Overall, I'm excited to get back to sewing and look forward to putting my new Curvy to a workout!

The machine is awful. It will not let me lift the foot because the lever is stuck. So I can not exchange one
foot for another. I sewed s blouse but can't finish because
there is no way to sew the buttonholes. The place where
I bought it want $100 just to look at it. Now what do I do??

I have read all the reviews on this machine. I don't understand the problems listed. I have used my machine since last Christmas without a single problem. My last amchine was not a singer and this machine is a dream compared to it. I actually love sewing again.

I really hate to give it a bad review because I have always had Singer Machines, but this one has not worked well for me at all. I have not been able to complete one sewing project since I got it as a gift last March. Something seems to always be wrong with the tension and it just sews gobs of thread on the underside of the fabric. I use the correct thd. and needles for the material I am using. I just tried to repair some jeans using a needle for that purpose with heavier thd. for denim and it was a disaster. The thd. all balled up down around the bobbin and I had to unscrew the plate to cut everything out. Any suggestions, I would really like to get to sewing some nice xmas gifts and things for myself and home. Thank you very much!

I got this machine for myself to start out with. I really like the machine but I have found one problem with this machine. The one problem I have had is that the needle threader does not work with any needles other than Universal Needles. I have been taking a quilting class and need to use Sharps, but those needles won't work with the needle threader. Other than that, I love this machine!!!

I had decided with the tough economy I would make my Christmas presents. I began sewing back in July...I have completed 4 rag quilts, over 40 neck warmers, 100 's of coasters....the machine is a great buy for the price and lived up to my expectations....I love the ease of threading
and changing colors of thread, also the variety of stitches at a touch of a button!

I find this machine very difficult to operate.
It's supposed to be automatic threader, waste time trying to do this.
It WILL NOT do the satin stitch, which is one of the main reasons I bought it.

I missed the 10-day window to return my 8763 Curvy to the store by 4 days. I'll have to keep the machine and use the 30-day warranty to fix the machine's timing. It only took one jam to break a needle, mess up the timing, and wear out the plastic gears.

I have had my Singer Curvy for a month now and am really enjoying it! I was really impressed with the self threader. I would spend almost an hour threading my old machine. It runs well, has great attachments and more are available. I have my grandmothers' old Singer Treadle and I found that the attachments from the treadle (75 years old!) work perfectly on my new Curvy. Thanks, Singer. You are the best!

Does a good job as a basic machine. I am not a fancy sewer, if I were, I would probably choose another machine.

The pedal/foot controller is cheaply made...mine stopped working after 2 months of use. The machine otherwise is easy to use...except that I can't use it now because of the broken pedal
It's alright

It's a okay machine if you don't mind the bobbin holder to pop out at you. Try fixing that and it still did it. I had to return a machine that I was very excited to get.

I am really enjoying using my new Singer Curvy. I have made my granddaughter a couple of dresses, bloomers and a hat. I think the decorative stiches are cute and fun to use. It is a great machine, and easy to use.

Just bought my Curvy and went to the store for my instructions on how to use this machine. I was very impressed by how simple it was to use and I really liked the features that were built into the machine. I liked the ease of use and the great value I feel I have got with this machine. I'm going to love sewing again.

Every time I try to sew, it loops, the bobbin pops. The tension no matter how much I try, its off. I had only used it about four times and I stopped functioning, all the light went on. Sent it out to fix, and its doing the same thing. worst machine ever, don't recommend it, SAVE your money. Never again will I buy singer $300 gone to waste!

After owing a Brother machine for 20+ years, I am very pleased to say that my Singer Curvy is GREAT! It was very easy to use (even without using the included DVD). The drop-in bobbin is a breeze as is the threading. It took a while to use the self-feed for the needle but I finally got it after about three tries. I sew pretty regularly now, creating handbags, accessories, and have moved on to clothes. I have recommended this machine to others.

I was sewing within minutes of taking it out of the box.
The quick start directions had me up and running with out a hitch unlike my last machine that took forever to get just the bobbin wound and the machine threaded! I plan on doing a lot more sewing now that I don't have to fight the machine anymore. Wonderful!

I am 54 years old, been sewing since I was 8 yrs old. I love to sew, but have worked with two wonderful machines. I have a Singer Featherweight and a cabinet model, made in 1952, both Singers. They have served me wonderfully all these years. This winter, I finally broke down and bought a Singer Curvy. I absolutely love it!! It makes mending so much easier. I still intend to use my cabinet model though but wanted you to know how much I love this new machine!!

I love this machine! I used to sew on my mom's really old Elna, and the Singer Curvy is soooo much easier to use! I took the free class that was offered to learn how to use the machine (which I really recommend). I've only had this machine for a few months and have already made quite a few projects.

The machine is wonderful and works well. I enjoy the stitch features, self-threading and buttonholing. However, the footer feed plate is difficult to put back in. I finally had to take it back to the store, they couldn't get it in, they waited for the repairman. Turns out the little hook on the bottom was bent. It works fine now, but makes me anxious that it will occur again.
