I bought the Singer 7470 for a compliment to my CE-150. I purchased my CE-150 on October 15, 2008. August of 2009 I went searching for another machine that would have the features, number of stitches including decorative stitches, and the price that I wanted in a machine. It took me a few months and a lot research to decide on the Singer 7470. I purchased my Singer 7470 on December 2, 2009. What impressed me on this machine was the variety of stitches, including the Alphabet, Numbers, and all the coma, quotation marks, periods, etc. as well as the choice of needle up or down. The ease of use, variety of stitches, choice of mirror image, choice to use a twin needle. When you choose a stitch it comes up in the window showing you options such as mirror image, twin needle, stitch length, stitch width. I love playing around with the different options that each stitch has. I had done a stitch out sheet of all the different stitches. My Singer 7470 runs smooth and quiet. But I must advise you with the following - When I got it home and started sewing with it - the machine made a loud clicking/clacking sound. This was due to the feed dogs not lining up with the foot plate. You will need to check the lever in the back of the machine that lowers and raises the feed dogs. I first lowered the feed dogs and then raised the feed dogs and then manually turned the wheel handle toward me. The feed dogs raised all the way in the up position. Then the machine sewed perfectly. I figured that the lever had shifted during shipping. When you get your machine home best that you reset your feed dogs first. Then you will enjoy this wonderful machine.
Pros:Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, The Tension Never Needs Adjusting

I've had a few machines in my life time, but never one that operated so wonderfully. It runs smoothly on all fabrics. When threaded it stays threaded, Never breaks the thread. The tension never needs adjusting. I've owned this machine 3 years. And I still love it.
Cons:Poor Quality, Timing Keeps Going Out., Stops Grabbing The Bobbin Thread, Huge Waste Of Time Waiting For The Repairs, Very Disappointed!

I was so excited to get a newer Singer. My old one has been a fantastic machine for the last 20 years! I bought this one because obviously it had many more options, fancy stitches and all the good stuff. The first week I had it, the top thread stopped picking up the bobbin thread. After hours and my failed attempt to fix it...I sent it in. When it was finally running again, I was told that the timing was off. I sewed about eight more times and this morning? Yep apparently the timing is off again. I am very disappointed. Even the dealer said that the lower price models such as this have cheaper plastic parts and he sees this all the time. I can't afford a super expensive machine so now what do I do? NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE!!!

Cons:Wish It Had Continuous Reverse Switch

I purchased a 7466 three years ago, because it was the most features for the price I could afford at that time. I loved this machine so much! When I could, I purchased the 7470 recently, as I wanted more stitches for crazy quilting. I love this machine as well, it has better light than the 7466 and lots of really fun stitches. It is easy to learn and use. Next I am going for a Singer CE-350 embroidery machine.
Pros:Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, Easy To Thread, Simple But Quality

I love this machine. It has given me the opportunity to practice sewing more efficiently. It is easy to thread and\or change setting, so I have more time to sew rather than dinking with the machine. I would like to learn more about applicable accessories like different footers and how to use more of the machines settings for monogramming and automatic threading, which I have yet to master. sara

I have had my 7470 for almost a year now. It is not the first Singer I have owned but it certainly is the best so far. It is easy to use and has been able to tackle every project I've done up to now. It is well worth the investment!
Wasn't sure this machine was up to my quilting progrects, but I'm mostly happy with this purchase. It has lots of features for the price, but seems a bit poorly put together.

I recently had to send my 39 year old singer touch and sew to the repair shop.I decided to treat myself to a new machine. I was concerned about price and quality and performance.I narrowed it done to the 7470 confidence. When it came i was worried that it wouldn't work for what i use a machine for. Great surprise it worked great.I made two dog beds with it. It went over the three ply fleece without any trouble. It is a very good machine.Lightweight and easy to use. It took me awhile to get use to threading the bobbin on the top. My old one did it under the foot feed. I would recommend this machine to all. The price was not that expensive either.

My husband gave my the 7470 Confidence 2 years ago for Christmas. I can't tell you how many curtains, bedspreads, table linens, and decorative pillows I have made since then. Confidence is the perfect name for the machine. My creativity level is at an all time high! Good going Singer.

It's been several years since I was able to sew, my mother had a Singer and that's what I wanted. We picked this one out and brought it home yesterday....I love it...The feed dogs had to reshift into place from shipping but other than that, she was ready to run!!!! Cool, I have all ready made some pillows for practice!!! Thanks Singer!
Cons:Slightly Louder Than Some Other Models I've Had.

I had purchased this model several years ago, and then traded it in on another brand. I missed this machine so much, I again purchased this model and am very pleased with it. It is extremely easy to use; the manual is especailly well written, and the directions easy to follow.
