My husband wanted to purchase an embroidery/sewing machine for me. Neither of us knew much about embroidery machines. We looked at other brands. For the features on the CE-150, and the fact its a Singer, we chose it. I started working on it as soon as we got it home. It sews so quietly and smoothly!! I've made baby bedding, burp cloths, receiving blankets, and two quilts with the sewing part. I can't even begin to list the things I've embroidered. The embroidery part was easy to figure out, especially since I knew nothing about it. I've received many compliments on every item that I've embroidered. There's still A LOT for me to learn about the functions in the embroidery, but I WILL learn. I use the machine at least two days a week. The only thing that I didn't like was the beeping about broken thread, BUT that was my fault; I was threading the machine wrong. You MUST make sure it's threaded correctly. Which the 'help' section addresses proper threading; that's how I discovered what I was doing wrong. EXCELLENT machine!!!!

Very disapointed :(

Cons: Complicated, Expensive

I got this machine because I love Singer brand. But that was a mistake. The warranty needs to be longer than a year. By the time my seller told me I had a bad machine there was nothing I could do about it. So here it is less than two years later and I can hardly use it because it beeps at me all the time and the embroidery is always off. It is a hard machine to learn on with the software. I wish I had saved the almost $1000 and got something else.

Nothing but problems with my Futura. It's definately NOT user friendly for someone with arthritis. I've had it in the repair shop 3 times since purchasing it! Never again.

A Great Versatile Machine

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality, A Joy And Fun To Use.

Cons: Could Use A Few More Button Holes.

The Singer CE-150 is both a Sewing Machine and an Embroidry Machine In One. I am surprise how quiet the sewing part of the machine is. It sews through thick layers of material with ease. Sews smoothly with no problems. The embroidry part of the machine is great. The software comes with enough designs to keep you busy for a while. It is easy to use. Once you transfer the design over to the machine all you have to do is press the start button and it does it all without you needing to be there. For the price you are getting high quality embroidry machine that does professional embroidry. I've had my machine for almost 2 years now. It took me almost a year before I tried the embroidry part of it. Once I got started I found that it was easy to use. Since I have started I have been doing embroidry for quite a few people. It's amazing machine. I do not follow the software choosen colors that are listed. I go ahead choose my own colors. The final product is Beautiful. The people that asked me to do the embroidry are just amazed at the outcome. I have several more request's from others to do work for them. It is an Amazing Machine.

Very disappointed

Overall Rating:

Pros: Both Sewing And Embroidery

Cons: Complicated, Very Touchy, Extremly Limited In Locations For Repair In The Country

I couldn't be more disappointed in anything I've purchased. I bought this machine through Walmart .com in July 2011. I am a very busy women. I work full time and spend a lot of time with grandchildren and family. I was so excited to learn and start machine embroidery. I took it out of the box read the manual. watched the video and started to go to work. The thread kept breaking. I tried calling the 800 number but with constant busy signal and no time to spend waiting on the phone I put the machine away until October 2011 when my had a cousin 9whos been embroidering for years) traveled from Michigan to Texas to give me a personal class on machine embroidery. She owns the Husquvara The thread on my singer futura breaks constantly. Regardless of the type of thread, material, design, tension. It makes no difference the thread breaks and ravels. After an entire weekend and only being able to make one small design, I put the machine away again until December 2011 when I wanted to make some Christmas gifts. I simply wanted to put a name on a throw, one for each grand child. Only a few received a personal gift the rest were given store bought gifts because the machine just wouldn't work properly. In May of 2012 I decided to give the machine another try. Same problem. My Daughter in law and I spent and entire afternoon in May on the phone with a singer rep who had me go through every thing possible to try to get the machine to work. At the end of three hours with a singer rep on the phone she said I needed to send it in for repair the nearest one for my machine is in Kansas. My warranty is up the end of July this year. I will now have to ship the machine to Kansas for repairs and pray that it works when I get it back. If not I've spent a ridiculous amount of money on pure frustration instead of something that was suppose to bring pleasure to my life. I am so disappointed in this machine. I will not ever suggest anyone buy a singer product for Machine embroidery.

Beginning Embroidery

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Well-made Not Flimsy, Software Is Great

Cons: Complicated, Not Consistent In Operation, "fussy" About Setup

7 out of 8 people found this helpful.

I use the CE-150 for Embroidery more than sewing. (I have a Confidence 7470 which I use for majoring sewing projects.) The embroidery software is where most of the value comes from. It does a great job of digitizing designs & photos but has it's limits with customizing fills. I use another software package to do more intense designs and transfer them to the CE-150. Hoops are decent sized. My biggest complaint is constant thread breaking... You absolutely MUST use thread nets. I frequently get misc. errors that require shutdown/restart and removing/reattaching the hoop so it can be frustrating. For the beginner embroiderer, its a good for the price and will definitely server to introduce you to the world of machine embroidery.

threading question

I've had this machine for about 2 yrs, it sews great haven't had much time to use all the features, has anyone had a problem with the thread getting stuck where you first began to thread the machine, the constant beeping alerts that something is wrong which is a plus but can be a little annoying when you're trying to finish a project.

Big learning curve

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value

Cons: Complicated

6 out of 8 people found this helpful.

This machine is great once you figure it all out. Very sensitive on the embroidery part. The sewing is great. the embroidery works really well, but takes a lot of practice. Not quite as easy as I had hoped it would be. Almost everything that went wrong was my fault, but the thing is so sensitive that it takes a lot of time to figure it out. I was ready to send it back after about 3 weeks of doing a lot of embroidery, but right when I was getting ready to pack it up I had worked through most of my difficulties. You have to follow every instruction to the smallest detail. also figuring out the correct stabilizing fabric with the right fabric and bobbin thread etc. makes a huge difference. As long as you are ready to spend a month or so playing with it and have lots of scrap fabric, you will be fine. Don't expect to take it right out of the box and make amazing things.

Love my CE150

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

It took me about a week to figure out the machine & it's workings.
I love it now. There is a learning curve...first- Read the manual.
Use 60 or 90 wt bobbin thread when embroidering. Keep the machine on a level & sturdy table (must be level to embroider). When threading...have the presser foot up and "saw" the thread in the first section, to make sure it's seated all the way, then finish threading. Do use a thread net. For larger cones, I put them in a large coffee mug set behind the machine, below the tall thread guide so the guide is directly above the cone. Bobbin case..use the 60 or 90 wt thread...and make sure the bobbin thread is pulled securely into the bobbin case guide (I sometimes break the thread...that's how hard I tug).

Had my machine a few weeks and it's great. Can't stop using it. Had another machine for embroidery but this beats it hands down. Sews lovely and is quiet compared to the other machine I had. Easy to use if you know a bit about sewing machines.

I love this machine. I was a little hesitant to purchase it when I read some of the reviews stating it was hard to use. I've found it very easy to use. I think some familiarity with computers is what makes it more user friendly, at least regarding the embroidery features. If you aren't comfortable using software I could see how the embroidery could be intimidating. The plain sewing features are super easy to use. I've had very good experiences with my Futura. The only drawback is the bobbin size. Love this machine!

I only buy Singer

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use

I have the ce-200 and 2 ce-150's.I am one lucky girl. My husband just bought me my 2nd CE-150 for Christmas so that I can make more stuff for our grandkids. I use the CE-200 mainly for sewing these days and it sews like a dream. The CE-150's are great at embordering, the reasons I went with the 150's instead of the newQuartet is that I all ready have extra hoops for it so I can hoop multiple thngs at one time. I also love the bobbin area on the 150's they are so much better than on the 200's. My only problem now is that I have ran out of room for sewing machines lol.

This is my first embroidery machine and I just loved it. You defintely have to make sure it is threaded properly. I have started to figure out my machine, each has its own character. The ease of downloading the program and my first embrodery project was wonderful. I would recommend this product to anyone. Thank you Singer for my new toy.

Very disappointed

Overall Rating:

Pros: Customer Service Is A Travesty

Cons: Few Features, Complicated, Expensive, No Customer Service Singer Lost A Customer

3 out of 3 people found this helpful.

I am extremely computer savvy and have 3 other machines singer in the house. Instructions are really minimal there is nothing at all on how to convert jpeg to a format for the sewing machine the photo punch result in a mess from the jpeg so I tried my best to find a way to convert it before sending to the machine and I might as well be easier to call the president. contacting a live person is a waste of time and frankly being referred to the web or a forum is insulting. That is fine for a 50 dollar item not for something 600 dollars. Thread ordered is well over 100 dollars and buying attachments missing so I an frankly disappointed. I bought from HSN the attachments are missing I am unable to rebox because I am alone and am handicapped. So like an idiot I ordered the missing pieces from the web. I am frankly disgusted and have sincere buyers remorse.

CE-150 Futura Sewing

Overall Rating:

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy To Use, High Quality

Cons: No Remedy Solutions For A Code 19

2 out of 2 people found this helpful.

This machine does wonders! I have sewn a Tuxedo Jacket from scratch in minimal time and hemmed pants galore with only one tiny complaint it throws a code 19 (threading error detected) only when using white cotton thread, It doesn't do it to nylon or synthetic white thread and I cannot figure out why. On the whole it is the best machine I've ever experienced and would still recommend it to all of my associates.

Cons: Complicated, Expensive, Working Embrodery Features Looks Complicated

I am very excited over my new sewing machine which has so many great features. I am still learning and have not tackeled the embrodery aspect yet. I love the well lit work area and the simple bobbin fill and load processes, as well as the two thread cutters for bobbin and top thread. Still have a lot to learn but just got the quilt out Ive been working on for the last couple of years and quit working on when my old machine broke down. I am now ready to sew! I have clothing to alter and quilt top to made. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Have had one problem after another with this machine. Have returned it to the factory 2 times. still having tension issues. Customer service has discontinued contact with me. Have been in contact with them since Jan. 2012 and with all the delays, my warranty has now run out and they have not returned my correspondance. I would not recommend this machine,

I have been sewing for many many years and finally indulged in a new machine. I bought the CE-150 after doing a lot of research. I absolutely love this machine. It is so easy to use, has tons of features and does an awesome job. The embroidery feature is so much fun! With so many free designs available, I will be enhancing most of my projects. The ability to use most any design format is a huge plus.

I love this as a beginning embroidery machine. bought a factory reconditioned one really cheap from Joann Fabric. Took a class to learn how to use it and it's great. It's definitely not a professional machine, but does what i need it to do. I am able to personalize all kinds of stuff and make quilt labels. Great value for money.

Overall Rating:

Pros: Easy To Use

I bought this machine and was very disappointed. It didn't take long before it was in the shop. I was told to NEVER use a embroidery machine like a regular sewing machine. They adjusted it but was told if I had any more problems to just buy another one. Well it quit and I haven't replaced it. A machine should last more than a year
