Singer Surgers directions are not easy to follow. I followed the book and CD and still cant get it to serge right.

Some machines may look complicated like this little Finishing Touch, but after reading the manual, and practicing how to thread, how to do this finish etc., my insecurity and threading fright disappeared. I could not be happier with this little serger because it gives me professional results every time. It is true that things are not made like before. In the past, we had sewing machines that made a straight lock stitch, then came zig-zag, now we want more bells and whistles for our money. Singer continues giving us great products, value and a 25 year warranty on all its machines. I am not a professional seamstress/tailor/quilter or designer. My success relies on me taking the time to read the manuals, and a basic knowledge off hand like: what thread to use with what fabric and needle, what tension is needed at the bobbin and at the top thread (s), and what stitch width can the material take. I apply the same principle to all my machines.

I Love this machine! It does exactly what I need it to. It came ready to sew straight out of the box. The only struggle I have had is the Threading. Once you have done it a few times it gets easier! I would Highly reccomend this machine to anyone, Begginer to Expert.

I first had problems but the handbook isn't very clear. The machine is great and once I went to a class to learn my serger, it's a snap. I will recommend this to friends and also they need to take classes with the serger. It's a great price, great quality, and my stitches come out beautifully. I knew there was a reason I always buy Singer machines:)

This is my first serger. I admit, I was VERY intimidated by all the complicated looking "thingys" when I first opened the box. I am still learning the basics, but so far I am doing pretty well considering my sewing skills are also fairly new. It has opened up an entirely new world of possibilities in my sewing. It is a little noisy. I think I can handle that. The instruction manual should have been written in another language for as much as it helped me, the dvd was my saving grace. Getting the tension right is still a struggle but I just replay the dvd. (yes, I am a newbie at sewing) Over all I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone, even newbies like me.

Recently bought this one as my first serger, now I don't know how I have gotten by with out it. I have used an industrial serger, so it wasn't unfamiliar to me. The CD is a great tool to keep handy for reference. I followed the instructions to adjust the tension of each thread and I am very happy with my purcahse....Thanks again Singer..

This serger replaced an industrial serger that I had used for years. It is smaller so it takes up less space, yet it does as good or better job than the industrial one. I have had no problems and am really enjoying using it.

Easy to use. Makes sewing fun and quick. Takes a little work to learn the treading, but the price was great and affordable for the the person who sews as a hobby.

This was the best money I spend on the Seger by Singer. You have greatness in creating machines.I still have my tiny Serger for more than 20years and it still works. Thank you for making great products and singer is the only brand I trust just like my mother had trust in your products.,

Threading took a little time getting used to it the beginning and now I'm more interested in what more can I do with this wonderful machine. This is a great investment, to save money on making your own projects and ideas using fabric and this machine is well worth it!!!

I've been sewing for over 45 years. I still have my first sewing machine which is over 35+ years old. I'm now retired and sewing a lot for my son who is a performer. He decided to buy me this Serger for Christmas... My oh my... the DVD made it so easy to thread the machine... Some days, it would take me over 2 hours to thread it over and over again to make it work... I am not sure if it's my age or the machine LOL. Once it's working... I just pray that the thread doesn't break and I can just keep going... The manual was not easy to understand. The machine works great once it's threaded correctly... I just haven't discovered why and how it doesn't work. It's a learning curve for me.

This serger is a gift from my son. My other serger was bought in 1990. The updated features are great!! This machine is much easier to thread and I am really excited to try the disengaging moveable upper knife feature. That one capability will greatly enlarge my use of this serger. The quality of the overlock stitches are superior and I really like this machine!!

I have only had my machine a couple of weeks but I'm enjoying it. The only dissappointment is the DVD. There is no audio and the folder marked audio on the DVD is empty. Other then the DVD I have always had great results with the Singer brand.

For my daughter who is taking a garment construction class, this was a necessity. Threading it is a real bear but once you get it going it serves its purpose. Out of the month we have had it she has had to re-thread it twice and has used it on over 30 pieces so we are pleased with the purchased overall. Also, dvd was not complete with as many details as the manual on how to use and set up. We could not have used the machine without using the manual-the dvd got us lost.
